My small contribution today.

Today we hade a wonderful older woman patient in our office. She was a victim of Katrina. Her son and his wife are patients here.

She is 82 years old and escaped in shoulder high water to the superdome in NOLA where she was then sent to Houston and her son picked her up. She is now in Austin, with nothing but the clothes on her back. Her glasses were lost during her escape from rising flood waters.

She is a high plus with forming cataracts, VA's 400+.

I am proud to say that our practice banded, and got this lovely and very simple woman a nice pair of FT 28's with a pretty plactic tura frame, at NO CHARGE.

She was EXTREMELY grateful and wanted nothing fancy, she said that she was "easy to please" and just needed "something to see with". Bless her.

I am simply amazed at her stength. Simply amazed.

Touch and go right now, I guess no news is good news.

We just wait and try to maintain his health. Hopefully we will get a healthy organ soon.
