    Wraps

I know there has been much discussion on this and I admit I do not fully understand the mechanics of such things. Howeve I need a polarized SV lens on an 8 or nine base to go into a Ray-Ban Rx4028 in aprox -4.50 -0.50 x 180 55/17 . I have been lead to believe on Optiboards that there are some new lens designs and labs that can handle this. The two labs that I currently use tell me that this can only be done on a 6 base with an 8 base edging.

Any advise will be greatly appreciated. If this is the wrong forum, my appologies.

    8 base curve -4.5

We offer the solution you are looking for. We would give you at least a full 50mm of viewing zone. There could be up to 5mm on the temple side of each lens that is thinned. The calculations would be made for the wrap angle and tilt of the frame. This changes the Rx but in the as worn position the Rx will be correct.

Our ICE-TECH lenses all come with backside AR and both sides feature the Free-ICE super hydrophobic. This is a super slick hydrophobic that is permanent.

We can also offer mirror coatings with a fast turn around time.

See information at the link below.

    Chip,

Also consider the Shamir Atttitude. I can't put my hands on the data but believe they claim to be able to put up to a -5 D on an 8 BC.

    ICE-TECH has the answer

As I said before we offer the solution you are looking for.

I provided you via private message the price information but have not heard back from you.

If you are not interested, please let me know why you did not consider the ICE-TECH solution.

I now see you are asking about Shamir products which you say neither of your labs is familiar with. The Shamir products have to be surfaced using traditional equipment. The ICE-TECH solution uses special diamond cutting equipment that can cut a back side curve of over 16 diopters.

The equipment ICE-TECH Rx uses provides the foundation for our complete process which is totally different than the traditional surfacing process. We produce the lens surface using tolorances that have a range of plus or minus less than one micron. You can see clearly through the lens after we create the surface without traditional polishing.

I'm not totally sure how the Shamir thing came up in this thread, only an option if the patient needs a progressive lens.

I called your office to request some literature and pricing. Very cool range of Rx! Thanks!

Snowmonster-Shamir has a line of +8 base single vision, not just the progressive design.

Ah - thanks Fezz, I thought the Attitude PAL was their only 8-base lens.

If its single vision. . .

You might also consider the Sola Spazio. We have had alot of success using it for our motorcycle riders. I'm not sure of the specific Rx limitations, but at -4.50 I think you are in.

I hope you're having fun and making money!!
