    My, you're aggressive, aren't you?

I didn't say I'd heard of it at all. I only said that if giving aid was contingent on adhering to a religion, I'd consider it extreme, but other than that I have really no feelings on the matter. Help the people in need, no strings attached.

And maybe you failed Civics along with Geography, but as far as I know, a Senator's "district" is typically called a "state", with Boston being far from the geographic center of Massachusetts. Since you seem to be keen on corroboration, I can provide a map if necessary. With big red arrows.

Bonus points if you've realized by now it's Representatives (that work in the House, which is different from the Senate) that have districts.

    Hi Chip,

I am glad to hear your family is well. I just spent my day getting supplies for the evacuees here in Memphis. Wow, there are tons of them. And they really brought nothing with them since they thought they would be going home in a few days. If anyone is interested in helping some of the evacuees here in some of the shelters we have here you can link to www.wreg.com it is one of our local tv stations in Memphis. These folks are just lost. We have had local radio stations letting people know that some of the local businesses will be hiring them. The casinos are hiring people in. It is just amazing to me. I was in Wal-Mart yesterday and I didn't realize the man and his daughter in front of me were from N.O. He said they are just trying to keep busy to keep from going insane. I can't even imagine. As bad as Memphis is most of the time, you see everyone banding together. Even though they are price gouging gas in Memphis to death you still see people together doing what they can to help these people. As these people are being evacuated we are supposed to be getting more and more of them. It took me 30 minutes to get home from work the other night, and I only live 10 mins from the store!! LOL!! Hey, I am just grateful to be in a position to help. Anyone else who would like to contribute can link to the site about.

    Thanks!!
    Steph

    Angry

Enough already! This thread began as a way to signal to those of us affected by this disaster to know that they are in our thoughts and prayers. If you guys want to hurl epithets at each other, do it somewhere else.

The opening post also suggested that people get involved.

Which is exactly what OB board members should do,l and some have done.

It got off track when a number of prolific liberal left loudmouths - started finger pointing and making personal attacks which were returned in kind, with a question as to what they had personally done to assist in the relief effort. So far those replies are much too confidential to share with the OB community.

To those of you involved and have posted how you are involved, good job, Sleep well in knowing you have done a little something to help your fellow citizens. But don't let it stop there. You will probably be running into other displaced citizens from the region. Go out of your way to make their day a little easier. Even if it's just a kind word.

Frankly I'm sick of this incessant name-calling and the inability to engage in a mature debate without this kind of language. (That goes for EVERYOE - right or left.)

I reread this thread from the beginning and you definitely have a distorted view of who started what. However there are places that like this kind of thing and I encourage all people - right and left - who would rather engage in name-calling to avail themselves of those resources. This thread is closed.

(There - now my enemies have more fuel for their rabid Steve hate-spewing crap. :rolleye: )
