Storm Question for Chip

Hey Chip,

Have you heard anything about our mutual friends in the Mississippi and Louisiana opticians association?

I talked to Nells today and they are in Jackson, MS with Mike Howard.

I have been trying to call Julie, (Executive Director) but the cell coverage in that area is already at capacity. I am wondering about Dennis Brooks, Elmo, and all the rest in New Orleans and along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Keep me posted on what you hear from that area please.

I think they all need a lot of prayers right now. This is a much bigger storm than ,Camile which claimed hundreds of lives in 69, and has an even lower pressure, meaning it will probably intensify before landfall.

Haven't heard anything, but then the population of Jackson has doubled this afternoon. Mike lives here in Jackson, so I don't think he would have any more problems than a few downed limbs and missing garbage cans.

I think most people on the coast (Biloxi, Long Beach, Etc. are being evacuated, New Orleans has been evacuated for all that could find a way out of town, Super Dome and upper floors of some structures doing duty as shelter. Just saw wind speed has dropped to 155 (from 165). I have a daughter in Wiggins (45 mi. from coast) who also has a house about 35mi. from the coast. She plans to ride it out in Wiggins.

Right now predicted 8.2" rain in Jackson, 10.2 in McComb and 12-14 South of there.

My thoughts have been on the same venue after seeing the weather updates.
My other prayer is for all those riding out the storm that couldn't get out as well as all those at the Superdome.

Rep: I talked to Julie shortly after your posting, she is staying put on the coast. Promised E. Mail me with her address, and keep me informed on whatever she heard reguarding our friends. I have not heard from her yet.

Thanks for the kind wishes. Where I am it looks like the storm is passing to the East of Jackson, so we may not even get the much needed rain here. Last one didn't give us a drop. Now the folks on the east side of the storm (Meridian for instance may not be so fortunate. My brother was in Miami when the storm visited there.

Thanks for the update. Glad to know Julie is OK. If you would please PM her e-mail address to me.

I just got off a land line with Julie. They are 100 feet above Sea leval and think they will be allright. She says a lot of people are riding this one out thinking it will continue to move west.

Elmo left N. O. and is hold up on a high floor in Baton Rogue. He usually stays at the Hilton there but thought it was better to leave this time.

No report on Dennis Brooks or anyone else.
