Wow! And we're worried about Janet Jackson's tit on the airwaves? Looks like we've got a bigger boob to be worried about.

I never realized that endorsing murder is a Christian ethic. Who would've thought!

What is war except mass murder? A single asassanation is far far more justified that the murder of thousands on each side. The only reason we abhor it so much is when war was "The Sport of Kings" the kings wanted to make sure that they were exempt from being amoung the casualties. Now our politicians want to make sure that thier heads are somehow more vauluable than the surfs.
Killin is killin and when it needs done even God makes certian provisions for it's need.
Chip
Of course in internal revolutions I don't see why we have to do other people's killin for them. If Sadam gave every citizen a pistol and was as fond of raping wives, and daughters of the surfs. Why didn't one of his own kill him? Surely one citizen would have been so insensed, he would have delt with this without reguard for the consiquences.
And no killin is far far more justified than one killin. :finger:Originally Posted by chip anderson

I really don't understand you liberal folks. If someone raped my daughter and tossed her in to a shredder. I sho' thinks this justifies a Killin.
If anyone endangers, my country, or my family or a few other freedoms, etc. I hold dear, this to me justifies a killin.

But then, I think Hiroshima and Nagasaki were just humain things to end the war with.
P.S. I also believe in the parting of the Red Sea.
Jack Kevorkian for Whie House Physician (a t-shirt I wear in deep Republican country) .My other favorite is Alien ***** from Planet Menstro ( worn prn) .Both purchased by my husband, a W fan ,for me to wear outside of Philly.
At least he said it while wearing our glasses. He gets his glasses from my pratice, he wears a Swarovski drill mount.

Of course that's more than a bit far fetched with respect to Mr. Chavez.Originally Posted by chip anderson

I will say that I'm pleased with our governments response, essentially "What? Huh? No, that doesn't sound right." followed by slowly backing out of the room.
All of this said, we've got a right to free speach so I'm all for giving Pat enough rope to hang himself. This one goes right up there with wanting to detonate a nuke in the State Department and blaming gays for 9-11.
Religious extremist calls for assassination of duly elected President of sovereign nation...Pat R or Usama bin L??????
This does seem in line with our policy of pissing off nations with significant oil reserves. It is always gratifying when people you have known for a long time to be nut-cases reveal themselves in indisputable ways.
The thing that gives this "preacher" words some weight is that Rummy has spent the better part of the last two weeks talking about how bad Chavez is for his country and ours! It seems like I've read some where that if someone says something so inflamatory that it causes death,, that person can be charged with murder. there again it may hav just been on Law and Order!:p

Tell it like it is!
Chavez is popular among the disenfranchised in Latin America. He has gotten a lot of mileage out of claiming that the US has/is trying to assassinate him. Fueling that fire, what a great idea!!!!:hammer:
chm, I have often voted for and supported the right, even consider myself a conservative. I cant understand some of the blunders that has gone on here of late. Looks like someones back on the powder. The adminastrationneeds to denounce Robertson(they would have been all over it if it was Jackson).:finger: Wrong is wrong!
Paul:cheers:
I was in college when Robertson made his primary bid to be the GOP nominee for President. As I recall, I cheesed off more than a few of my friends when I refused to cast my primary vote for him (not that it mattered, there was no way he was going to win).
The fact is, the man is one of those intelligent people who lacks common sense. You can think about assassinating a foreign head of state- heck, it might even (as a hypothetical) be a good idea- but you don't say something inflammatory and divisive like that...
Occasionally, I'll catch a few minutes of the news on Robertson's channel (forget which channel that is, but he has his own network). There's actually some good coverage on there from time to time. But, I can't say I agree with all- or even the majority- of his views.
Kevorkian for White House Physician, oh brother... Actually, I hope the President has a competent physician, because- like pretty much all Presidents- the office has truly accelerated his aging! He's starting to resemble ole dad more and more. Of course, having a few crazies following you around during your vacation cannot be stress-relieving (hey, agree with their statement or not, these folks are just nutsos being exploited- as are the anti-protest protestors who are camped nearby... give it a rest already).

Here is one take on this:
Since Pat Robertson believes it is appropriate to
assassinate public figures who are deemed to be a threat
to society, can we move him to the top of the list? :)
Robertson has pulled off an amazing feat. He has managed
to associate the Christian right with terrorism in the
public mind AND to turn the leftwing nutcake Chavez into a
hero--all in one sentence. Incredible.
Can I make a suggestion? Would all "Christian leaders" who
are tempted to speak on political matters just shut up for
a while? Let's have a moratorium on all things political
by them so the rest of us can get on with talking about
the minor stuff....you know, like the Gospel of Jesus.

Pat Robertson speaks for himself. Anyone who wants to link him to the Christian right is welcome to. But, from a Christian right-er, myself, he's a marginalized nobody, and has been for a looooooooong time.
Listen, if a wacko supremacist white guy spews nonsense, does he speak for whites? If a radical feminist woman speaks hatred against men, does she speak for women?
How, then, does Pat speak for the "Christian right"? Maybe I should speak for the Christian right!
A CIA Cover Blown, a White House Exposed
I just read a very good article in the Los Angeles Times today on this man. Sounds like he and his cohorts are responsible for the Iraq war. Needlessly!! The Bush staff just needed enough bad evidence to convince us that we needed to go to war. Bring our military HOME now!!!
Pat Robertson might be right. Saddam was a Chavez once!!

You are precisely right... I would add the Schiavo family to that long list of folks who have been exploited by individuals/groups with a political agenda.
Unfortunately, it appears as if Sen. Diane Feinstein (D-CA) is going to allow herself to be a tool as well. As the "only woman on the Judiciary committee" I see the Dem party has gotten her to start spewing silliness regarding the Roberts confirmation. This is one Democrat I have always liked, so I sincerely hope she doesn't allow herself to be used by certain elements of her party.
I'm not a fan of everything this admin does/stands for, but there's no reason this nominee should have any trouble being confirmed. Considering Justice Ginsberg managed to receive confirmation without too much acrimony, the efforts of certain members of Congress to stall/derail this nomination are just a tad hypocritical.

This is a prime example of the polarizing effect of media in today's political arena. If you only watched the talking heads, you would assume there are 2 positions only: Roberts is a combination of Oliver Wendall Holmes and Thomas Aquinus and any short of a coronation is treason; Roberts is a closet John Bircher whose appointment to the court spells the end of life as we know it and must be stopped at any cost. The Senate has a right to question him; he has the right not to answer hypothetical questions, a la Ginsberg--though Ginsberg DID answer the question about her opinion on the legality of abortion, just not R v W per se.Originally Posted by Pete Hanlin

New sbj: heard that W has been talking with the Shiite leaders and "encouraging" them to compromise with the Sunnis on the nascent Constitution. I will go out on a limb here and predict that being seen as confering with W will not buy the Shiites anything but more resistance. How tone deaf is this guy?
Re W's physical well being, not to worry. His at rest pulse is 54. Anybody out there in OB land have the time to get into that kind of shape? (For reference, Lance A's is 47, average is 72).
I have not closely followed the career of Pat R--life's too short--but there was some stuff on tv the other night that was insane. Samples: Pat R rants against gambling, yet owns a race horse; PR hawks a protein drink on his program--I have a hard time picturing Billy Graham or the Pope doing this...; his Korean combat experience is fiction; he agreed with Jerry Falwell that 9/11 was God's way of punishing the US for gay marriage; he has stated that feminism "..causes women to leave their husbands, kill their children, practice witchcraft..."
Oh my. And this buffoon has the nerve to pass judgements on other people!!! (Kinda liked the witchcraft thing though...)
