Ah-ha. The Optometry, Opticianry, and Ophthalmology lobby obviously have paid off the Iowa AG! The conspiracy continues....:p

Regardless of the scam of having a short cancellation policy etc.. does the "See Clearly Method" really help patients see better?

I have many patients asked about that, and I have been told them them to stay away from this scams for years. Glad it's finally come to this.

The Bates Method, like taxes, will never go away. It’s too good a scam. This thing has been around for nearly a century in one permutation or another. As For-Life so aptly stated . . . WOW! as many as 5,000 to 10,000 kits a month @ $350 a kit.

Iowa’s Attorney General, may, at best, get an injunction against the publishers of the See Clearly Method but, a few changes in ad copy, perhaps a bankruptcy and they will be right back under a new name. WOW! as many as 5,000 to 10,000 kits a month @ $350 a kit.

Just Google “Bates Method” and you will find more citations than for penis and breast enhancement. WOW! as many as 5,000 to 10,000 kits a month @ $350 a kit.

WOW! as many as 5,000 to 10,000 kits a month @ $350 a kit. That’s $21,000,000.00 to $42,000,000.00 a year. I may just come out of retirement for this one.

I think many of us DON'T want to get into this type of discussion again, so type in "bates" into the search function and have at it.

I think getting religious and praying for better vision has a better chance of working. Just in case that doesn't work, schedule an eye exm and get eyeglasses.

I actually had a patient, one of twins with a fair amount of correction claim she "prayed for God to correct her vision, and my need for glasses went away."

Personally I would save God for big things like when my mother had cancer.

Yeah - praying for better vision has a better chance of working.

What I find amazing is that I could not find any customers complaining. You would think that some one would have vented out online somewhere. You would think after getting ripped off they would want to get vocal and post it on some message board etc.. Anyway I searched online I could not find any, but I only spent 5 min and then gave up.

I've heard some cultures believe if the husband has a minus correction and the wife an equivalent plus RX their children will have perfect vision. Any OD/matchmakers out there?

    Jack Copeland:

Developer of the Copeland Streak Retinoscope appearently thought myopia was a disease and went to great lengths to retinscope his lady friends. Finally married an emetrope (he was hyperopic) and had several medium myopic children.

But then when training he also retinscoped animals some in the wild including owls.

If the Bates Method fails you can always try Syntonics.

I really did have one Mother come in with child and hubby, who kept insisting that "her" child didn't need glasses (-2.00 Sph I think), just as she didn't, because she lived a righteous life.......

Hubby stood there, in his high minus glassees, and his face said volumes - must've been caught out at some time!! :finger:
