No, they are more like the older glass photochromics.

Where Transitions places the tint on the surface they place the tint throughout the lens.

Benefit - They do not loose tint over time and colour over time stay consistant

Disadvantage, since it is throughout the lens you will see a degree to difference tintwise throughout the lens. For instance, in a flat top you will notice that the lens is tinted and the bifocal is almost clear.

There are some inconsistencies with the previous statement.

The matrix lens technology employed in the lens is not in-mass, nor imbibed like Transitions. It is true that the color remains constant throughout the lens surface, and the makeup of the lens keeps it from going thru the normal "fatigue" factor that plagues imbibed lens technology, providing a greater lasting lens product.

Also, as of this writing, I have found no indication of a FT or other type of multi-focal lens available. (SV and Precise / Concise lens products only)

The new matrix lens technology allows these products to change from dark to light 3x's faster than other types. It has done wonders for my patients, and definitely worth a spin.

I have a pair of both the Kodak and Transitions photochromics - two other things to add... the InstaShades get lighter quicker but Transitions get darker in hot weather.

Are you kidding me??? Do you think those sponsors spend all that money and put there names on those cars because they think it's cute? Cars aren't even recognized by number any longer! It's the Kellogg car, the UPS car, the Dupont car, the Budweiser car...millions of us watch it!
    NASCAR is HUGE!!!!!!!!
