    Question for HcJillison and others.

Years ago one used to be able to get "dummy blanks) these were lens blanks for setting and checking edgers generators. As well as I remember they were in packages of about 200, quite cheap and not as thick as blanks used for making actual lenses. My question: Are same still available and where would one go to obtain them?

I believe what you want are called "coquille" (pronounced cokekeel) lenses.Almost any lens wholesaler should have them. My recollection is that they were prepacked in either 30 or 60 pair lots. I got a bunch for a friend of mine about 10 years ago but haven't had any call since. If you can't get them from your lens supplier, email me and I'll track down a source for you.

Chip, is it hot enough for you???? Yankee doodle went to town riding on a pony.....

    Test lenses etc

I used to buy 25 pair boxex pf Plano 70mm lenses. I havent seen them packaged like this for a number of years. I used them for tint samples, replacement lenses for clip ons, and test lenses for custom drilled mounts

Norvilles in the UK used to do them but could be quite expensive getting them to you. How much is a plano 70mm blank anyway? Just factor it in to your prices.
