    need articles on patient hand-off...

Does anyone have any suggestions for articles on recommending/selling of eyewear? We would like to share some ideas with our doctors. Our practice is busy but lacking in the hand-off from the doctors to the opticians. Thanks!

    Try EB

Checkout www.eyecarebusiness.com. Type in "doctor hand-off" or "Rx hand-off". There should be plenty of articles that address this topic. Hope this helps!

You will also probably run into articles that show that doctor hand offs are subject to a fine (I think it's either 5 or 10 grand). There was a post within the past month where someone quoted the exact article, and copied the law.

    Good luck

Check with the National Academy of Opticianry which offered.. 2 VHS tapes from VCA called Give Your Patient the Best. There is one for Dr's and one for opticians.

The best thing that we ever did was add iPort Media to our practice. The programming I selected and upgrades sells itself even if the Doc's don't want to.

we use Eye Imaginations, Similar concept to the iport media. A computer based patient education system that you can use to educate patients on eye care topics such as eyediseases, treatments, surgerys, lens and eye wear options. We play it in the exam room while the patient is waiting. Great tool

    Eye Glass 1

Legal patient hand off: Dr. gives patient Rx in his hand at time of examination. Tells patient: "Here is your Rx for eyeglasses, you may have this filled anywhere you like." Dr. may recommend specific dispensaries if he does not have a financial interest in the dispensaries, he may not recommend any in which he has an financial interest.

    Does that answer your question?

We use iPort for generalized waiting room that highlights products that we use. go to www.iPortmedia.com. Stopper, we use Eyemaginations in two lab tops for detailed patient information that we have to loop together. www.eyemaginations.com .

iPort is an internet cast program that is completely different. It has interesting items interspersed such as weather, qoutes, news, information on eye problems and product that we use that sells itself better than Eyemaginations. I do not need labor intensive marketing. We have iPort in both of our front waiting areas and all of 11 exam rooms. I can add my own content for upcoming seminars as well as our policies.

Contact me privately and I will be more than willing to share. Our office has a website:www.favamariaeyecare.com

We increased profitability with premium product by 30% in one year.
