Is the bridge size really critical?
If you measure an 18, could you wear a 20 or 17, if the frames have adjustable nose pieces?

One can't defy physics too far.

It's not critical most of the time unless: you are too narrow or wide to adjust out. Rx is strong and you are trying for either symetry or minimum thickness.
