Honestly, the prosecution never had a case, and it probably should not have gone to trial.

The only proof they had is what the boy and family said and considering that the family has lied in the past for money and even lied in a court room I think it was rather obvious what would happen.

Since he has been acquitted I would think he would take a low profile down the road.

The damage that this has done to his career is not good. Maybe he should file a civil suit against them and try to win back his dignity and some of his $$$.

The women: should she be held accountable for frauding the welfare system?

    Power and Money

So regardless of his guilt this trial came down to power and money. If, in fact, he committed the crimes then his power and money got him off. If, in fact, he was innocent then the likely cause of the charges was his power and money.

I guess being "different" isn't a crime... Additionally, I would hope there would be no further cases brought against Jackson- after all, any parent that lets their child stay the night in Neverland should be slapped and/or imprisoned.

The guy is certainly different than most people, seems to have several emotional/psychological issues, and probably needs to avoid future contact with little boys. Personally, I would have to think he's probably done something to someone- I guess there was just reasonable doubt that he did a particular thing to this particular accuser.

Now, can we please return to our regularly scheduled programs!?! I'm sick of hearing about this case (its the only news on right now).

I hope that his image never recovers from this and he becomes a pariah in the entertainment industry. Just another has been rock and roll freak!

    http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20050614/ap_on_en_mu/michael_jackson

"He's just not guilty of the crimes he's been charged with," said Ray Hultman

But Hultman said he believed it was likely that both boys had been molested. He said he voted to acquit Jackson in the current case because he had doubts about his current accuser's credibility.

"That's not to say he's an innocent man," Hultman, 62, said of Jackson.

Some jurors noted they were troubled by Jackson's admission that he allowed boys into his bed for what he characterized as innocent sleepovers.

"We would hope first of all that he doesn't sleep with children anymore and that he learns that they have to stay with their families or stay in the guest rooms or the houses or whatever they're called down there," jury foreman Paul Rodriguez said. "And he just has to be careful how he conducts himself around children."

Not necessarily - it could be that the standard of proof "got him off" (we may need to find a better phrase for that).

There's no specific number associated with "beyond a reasonable doubt", but in one survey I saw, most judges think that it means 80% to 90% certainty. But one can say that one "thinks he did it" with anything over 50% certainty. So, there's a 30-40% "certainty gap" that explains how one can think simultaneously that "he did it" and that "he's innocent of the crime".

I think S is right. Given the pivotal witness was a convicted perjurer (and really, what are the odds your kid is molested by 2 different people on 2 different occasions???) and that the DA went after the very hard to prove "conspiracy" charge, the jury had ample reasonable doubt.

That said, if I ever decide to commit a felony, I plan to do so in California.

I disagree. The jury was paid just what the court allowed.

It is by universal misunderstanding that all agree. For if, by ill luck, people understood each other, they would never agree.
