    Confused What to pay employees?

I'm an optometrist and am in the process of hiring new employees. I would like to know what the average pay is for the following types of employees...
    1. Opticians/technicians (licensed and unlicensed)
    2. Front desk/secretarial assistants
    3. Optometric assistants
    4. Office managers

And also what kind of benefits employees are getting, e.g., paid holidays, 401K plans, dental and medical insurance, and what other doctors are offering?

Thanks in advance for any replies!

licensed opticians in north carolina 30,000 to 60,000, the rest of your staff i have no idea, you might contact some of the local OD,s in your area and see what they are paying

Don't take this the wrong way but if you want to pay average wages and benefits you may just wind up with "average" employees. I have always found that if I commit to pay well above average and actively seek well above average employees of all skill levels and positions that these people will pay for themselves many times over.

    Wink A well traveled road. . .

Somewhere between all they can get and as little as you're willing to pay there are several deals to be made. If you're smart you'll hook up with a good Optician with a good track record. One with a verifiable track record. Then cut the best deal you can, they'll save you their salary and then some.

I think talking to other OD's in your area, maybe some lab rep and frame reps as well. This is a really small industry and we generally are our best source for information.

Good luck to you. I hope you're having fun and making money!!
