    New Conatct Lens....................

ROCHESTER, N.Y.--Last week, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration cleared Bausch & Lomb’s (NYSE: BOL) Nike Maxsight polymacon sport-tinted contact lens for market distribution. The soft contact lens, indicated for daily wear to correct refractive myopia and hyperopia, is designed to aid visual performance in athletic settings. Nike (NYSE: NKE) sought out B&L to partner in the development of the new sport-tinted CL three years ago, a B&L announcement said. In addition to co-development activities, B&L will manufacture the lens and market it to eyecare professionals; Nike will be responsible for consumer marketing

If you saw my post about shooter glasses I wonder if these would work well with it too.

    hype?

It is based on contrast enhancement. Will work to some extent, but it is of limited application and there are better methods in the pipeline.

Those that think it is hype are wrong, but colour prescribing in sport can be much more accurate (and beneficial). However, the knowledge level of the effects of visual stimulus on neurological systems needs a high level of expertise.

I saw these lenses today. The doctor I worked for put one in each eye. The orange one was horrible looking, I can't imagine anyone wanting to wear it. The other one made her eyes look black, like they were all pupil. It looked very odd on her as she is fair and blonde haired. It might not look bad on a dark haired and dark skinned person.

I don't think we will have a huge demand for these.

On the marketing side, does not matter what they look like, as long as they give better sports vision

I am not so sure about this. The orange one looked sick. I think most people wouldn't want to wear it.

If you watch hockey you will see a lot of players starting to wear yellow visors (do not know why they still do not have one with AR). I remember when the breathe rite pads came out all athletes wore them.

Plus, people like the cool look, so they get excited about junk like that.
