Wake up, shower, go to work, come home, eat, do what ever I do in the evening (read, watch tv, play on the internet, work out, go out), and then sleep.

At the store I usually just do the edging, make sales, and whatever else needs to be done during the day.

Start work at quarter to store opening, get out whenever I feel done after closing
    Sun, Mon ... closed

    Tues, Weds ... 10-8
    Thurs ... Store #1 10-6 ... or ... Store #2 9-5
    Fri ... 10-5
    Sat ... 9-3

    Morning:

Get in the door - print faxes including our job report from our main wholesale lab and make sure everything looks like its in motion. Open everything that our messenger service dropped off (frames, lenses and contacts) and sort it into stock or patient trays. Check out anything that comes in complete and lenses only, edge and check out everything that has to be cut. Answer phones and help patients in between all day long.

    Midday:
Open and do the same with any deliveries that come in using next day services such as Aiborne or UPS. Go to the bank and pick up the regular mail. Between 2-3 order frames, lenses and contacts from suppliers with afternoon cut offs for next day delivery. Go back to edging, answering phones and helping patients. Call patients to let them know their orders are ready. If my normal coworker is in the other office I pre-authorize benefits and elligibility for the next day's exams before the insurance companies close. Pack up and mail merchandise to be returned and mail insurance claims to be submitted by paper. Sometimes lunch happens, sometimes it doesn't - I don't stop very well especially when I have my own flow going.

    Evening:
Order lenses and contacts from suppliers with cut offs between 5-6 o'clock for next day delivery. Finish edging hopefully sooner more than later. Call more paitents to let them know their orders are ready. Confirm the next days appointments. Continue to answer phones and help folks walking in. File the paper files that have accumulated from the day. Clean up the edger, make sure everythings in order and then complete all of the end of day financial stuff.

Occasionally, the displays have to be changed out, the shelves have to be dusted and the frames have to be cleaned up - try to do this stuff when there is time. Once and awhile we sit down with frame and lab reps to touch base or sort out what should be returned and pick out what is new and should be stocked. I try to make sure all credits are accounted for and luckily my coworker deals with paying the bills so I don't have to worry about that. Also try to vacuum, sweep and mop when there's time. Once a week I get our stock ophthalmic lens order in and try to go through the contact lens trials to see what I have to reorder.

I'm sure there's more and I think I get where Jason is taking this after reading my list but we'll see ...
