    Briot Edger Repair?

Anyone know of a Briot repair person on the east coast?
    North Carolina to be exact?
My Accura edger is in need of a tune up and the fine folks I bought it from no longer repair or service the equipment they sell.

(Wonder if we Opticians could get away with that??? "Sorry you are having trouble with those new glasses sir/mam but we only SELL glasses here." Ha ha ha.)

    Thank you!!!

Have you tried calling Briot directly? Also I believe there is a company called JA Optronics that distribute for Briot in your area, sorry not sure of how to locate them.

Thank you Thumbs but JA Optronics is the aforementioned party in my post. They apparently lost their previous repairman and have no intention of replacing him due to some issues bordering on embezzlement and leaving a "bad taste in their mouth."

I apparently owe JA Optronics an appology. They DID NOT sell the edger to my company. This edger was purchased from/thru Dick Terrode via Carl Gorham at Briot. Jay Lake, who installed and serviced the edger up until late last year, represented himself to us as a JA Optronics employee (I still have the business card to prove it) and has since vanished. It was my understanding (or misunderstanding) that the edger was purchased thru JA Optronics and has been serviced by the same up until last year but that was wrong. We have been contacted by Briot and expect edger service soon. AGAIN, all appologies to JA Optronics who did not sell us the edger. They merely serviced it up until last year.

JA Optronics is a wonderful family owned business. If I remember right it is the father, wife and son?? I had the priviledge of meeting them several times at optical trade shows and they are truly good and honest people.

If you have edger needs, I recommend you give them a call.

And I am in no way connected with their company, just acknowledging some very nice decent and optical association supporting people!

Call Vision Systems Inc. 727-934-0130. They are in Tarpon springs, FL. They re-build Briot edgers, and others, so they should be able to assist you.

Definately call JA Optronics they are one of the best the father is John Sr. and the son John Jr. their knowledge is unparralleled. I repair my machines myself now beacause of their help and advice. You can reach them at (800)888-0090. If you can get John Jr. to come out he is the best.

If there are two choices of lab edger Briot and Nidek, which one will you recommend?

I would say hands down, The Nidek. It is a far superior product. HarryChiling is right about the support side of it. Briot is the best for support. I on the other hand would prefer an edger that does not require much support.
If we could combine the Nidek product with the Briot Support, We would have a perfect company!!!!

    BTW........

What about National Optronics??? I give them the award for most durable and long lasting machine.

Most of the edgers I am using currently are from Topcon, they are ALE-5000SGII and I would like to try the edger which can receive the data transfered via phone line from the remote station after tracing. I suppose it will work for full rim, but I am not sure if it will work for rimless. Anyone has experience to be shared? Thanks.

Have you ever tried transfering data from remote station via phone line after tracing?

Why do you wait for LE series instead of ME? They quote me ME-1000, ICE-9000 and RD-100. I would like to hear the comment from you.
