Y'all come visit us in Dallas- y'heah?

Just put a contract on a home in Hickory Creek, Texas (a little community about 25 miles north of Dallas nestled right against Lake Lewisville). Here's a couple pics, and the state park and boat ramp are < 1 mile from the front door (Lake Lewisville is about 5x7 miles in size).

So, anyone have a boat for sale??? :bbg:

Ice. Ice is way more likely than snow in Dallas.

    Chris:

How would one ever get a boat from Montreal to a place where they have liquid water?

The cement pond is 8 houses down the street (community pool), and during our last visit to the house a family came home (apparently from the fish store, because their son and daughter- who are my children's ages- were yelling to the kids in the next house to come over to see the fish ;^).

I think this will work just fine. As for the boat- just UPS it! ;)

PS- They shouldn't call this place "Texas"... its should be called "Taxes!" My God, the property taxes here are incredible!!! Everyone here keeps saying, "Yep, but we don't have personal income taxes..."

Well, we don't have those in Florida either, but my tax rate in the Sunshine State was half what it will be here!

I'm assuming the local sheriff's department must come every Saturday to mow my yard (I'm surely paying enough to expect that)!

Anyway, the realtor assures me my reaction to the tax rate is completely normal for people moving to the Lone Star State, and I'll soon "get used" to it (to which I just had to ask if she's ever worked as an Optician).

Yep, the tax rate is quite a surprise. And no, you won't get use to it. You would think that all of that tax money would get you something - like you said, mowing would be a nice feature.

This puts quite a few of us 'in line' to cruise I-35. I'm the furthest north that I know of. Which building you working out of?

HOME! Seriously, I think I'll be working out of my home office one or two days a week. Otherwise, my "cube" will be in the Stemmons Avenue (Omega) facility. It would be nice to team up with someone up north- if only to have the use of the HOV lane).
