Pete Hanlin,
One of your posts mentioned the book "Selling the Invisible" by Harry Beckwith. I liked it as well. Have you read any other good business books? I'm always on the lookout for good ones.

One I just finished reading is Marketing Research: That Won't Break the Bank. It is by Alan R. Andreason.
It discusses mainly how small business owners can use marketing research and how easy it is.
Very easy read.
You Can Negotiate Anything by Herb Cohen was a book I found extremely helpful. It is very easy to read and will help anyone enormously when it is time to negotiate from salary to buying a refrigerator. Its more than 20 years old, but I found that its still available through Amazon.

There used to be a book by Ralph Drew I think it was called Ophthalmic Dispensing I found that book to be beyond value. He had a great way of getting across the mundane things of Optical. Just my 2 cents
Good book to give out if your the new manager.
Paul:cheers:
How about books about managing in general?
Jediron: Professional Dispensing by Ralph Drew: I have that book. It's good but a little outdated now.
Who Moved My Cheese: I agree Ziggy. It's so short and simple that I read the entire book while in the store so I never had to purchase it.
For Life and Harry, I'll pick up your suggestions, thank you.
Night Train: I'm up for any good business book if you have a favourite. However, management and business are two totally separate disciplines. There is a huge difference between a manager and an entrepreneur. Having said that, two of my favourite managing books are "Gung Ho" by Ken Blanchard, and "How To Run a Company" by Dennis Carey.
P.S. Are you inspecting some of your own work in that photo?
I have an autographed copy in my library. Whoop-de-doo. It's still a good book but someone needs to update some of it. Is Ralph Drew still alive?Originally Posted by jediron1
There's a book I loaned out that the ABO recommended. I think it's 'The Dispensing Optician' or 'Ophthalmic Dispensing' or something like that. It's a big blue book that's still available and I believe it's been updated. It has a lot of practical dispensing information.
Don
one minute manager,a really good book about managing from the employees eyes.
