    Lab discount!?

    Hello everybody!

    Just a small question.
Lets say I will take ANY job that comes in from my surfacing lab (exept RX offs and huge scratches on still uncut lenses) and eat any problems with those lenses (scratch waranty, non adapt and others on all materials). No return policy!
How much you people would think I can save?
Would the Lab be intrested in this?
Compare small lab and a huge one?

    Any thoughts.

By the way do labs have a higher profit margin on premium products or lets say CR-39 Adaptors?

I cannot speak for your lab so I do not know how "fast" is fast for them. If their facilities can handle high volume and fast turn around time then likely it would not be an issue your speed requirement. They might give you a better discount in that case. Remember that depending where they are located (labor costs, insurance, rent, etc) will directly affect the prices they can offer. Doc

To answer the question of how much? It could be from 3% to 20%. The reason for the wide variance is some opticals return very little and then there the others who have a very high return rate. The high returnee’s think it is a game of "think the lab will take this back" they are pushing us to see how much they can get away with! When it escalates to this point we recommend an Essilor Lab and tell them to ask for the super secret "Table 97" pricing.:hammer:
