    Carat ADVANTAGE Arc...

Wow this new Zeiss coating looks pretty good!
We just got this new coating here in Canada in February.
It is slick, I guess it's to compete against the Alize and Teflon eh?

    In the attached picture...
If you do uncuts, Zeiss sends ya some blocking pads - BONUS!
I wonder who makes these blocking pads?

    Just FYI,

The blocking pad can be ordered from Phantom Research Laboratories, 1.800.225.5559. I have found the Zeiss lense much more difficult to edge than the Alize and Teflon. Use a good coating of hair spray on lense, let dry thoroughly, apply an edging sticker,( similar to 3M blue chip lens protector), then use blocking pad. When edging thick lenses, cut down to slightly larger than ED and check for lense twist.

    Blocking & Edging Carat Advantage

The new Zeiss Carat Advantage coating can be blocked and edged using Rikipads by Miki Sangyo - - - (973) 263-4111. The Rikipads are protector pads that are applied to the front surface of the lens, without having to apply hairspray. Then the lens can be blocked in the usual way. After edging, the pad is easily removable. These pads prevent slipping in the edger. There is no need to apply hairspray to the coating. For more information, please contact Zeiss Customer Service @ (800) 338-2984.
