    Rimlon frame trouble

We've had problems repairing certain rimlon frames that don't have a bevel opposite the cord side. Instead, the frame is grooved to hold what looks like stiff nylon cord which in turn fits into the grooved lens. Problem arises when someone brings in a frame without that piece, complaining that the lens keeps falling out. There's no way for us to secure the lens, and I haven't found anything that works in the groove. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Is there a special cord that can be bought to fit into the frame?

Are you talking about the piece that slides into the metal channel? Hilco has flat rimless liner #20/073/000 and figure 8 liner #20/072/000

CME4SPECS is exactly right. Figure 8 cord is exactly what you need. Hilco is a good source, but most any optical supplier will carry it.

Thanks everyone. That sounds like it. I presume it's called figure 8 because when you look at the end of the wire it's hour-glass shaped? I flipped through my Hilco catalog several times and even had an assistant call them, but nobody could figure out what we needed. They ended up sending us some lensgrip tape. Thanks again.

I gave you the item numbers. Look on page 170 in the 2004 catalogue.
