I am a New Zealand optometrist, planning to visit family in New York in September. The other day I happened upon Vision Expo West, which no doubt some of you have been to. What did you think of it and do you think it would be worth going to?

It's a good show and Vegas is a lot of fun. I would recommend it. It is on the west coast of the USA. A plane ride to New York will be about 4-5 hours.
Of course flying from New Zealand you'll be coming in through either Los Angeles or San Francisco so Vegas is on the way to New York.
I like Vision Expo West better than I do EAST. West is more relaxed as well as the attendees. I think Expo East in New York has a different attendee base which seems to be in a hurry mode all the time.
i go to both, vegas is far superior and it ends on saturday, big thing is you cant beat the entertainment thats availble in vegas, in a lot of cases for nothing or almost nothing, and good weather, being in the desert its almost never cold
Thanks for your replies and, yes, I do know where Las Vegas is! Unfortunately I'd have to do a round trip from LA as I'd already booked for May when circumstances changed. Plus I only discovered VEW the other day. It's only 1 hour from LA though, so am still deciding.
With VEW being in September, the majority of the time, it's over 100. Of course last year we also had rain, which was unusual.Originally Posted by harry a saake
