Where do you get your news?

After you vote, post specifics - which network or magazine, for instance. It's ok to vote for more than one.

    Internet: CNN.com
TV: CNN, FoxNews (sometimes more entertaining than CNN), local Fox affiliate (just coincidence)
Radio: I don't tune in specifically to hear the news, but catch quite a bit of it flipping between various AM stations.

I watch "The Daily Show" and Saturday Night Live's Weekend Update- more truth to it than "real" news.:D
CBC NewsWorld is where I go for "serious" news reports.
For online news www.onlinenewspapers.com and www.theonion.com are my favourite internet sources.

I'm usually the last to find things out by hearing news, weather, etc. from customers and employees.

I also like the maintain the idea that "no news is good news" and enjoy a nice quiet drive to and from work

My favorite news source is the Countdown news hour, anchored by Keith Olbermann, on the MSNBC cable TV channel.

    I start the day with..........

I start every day with the Cape Cod Times. I am usually waiting for the delivery person at 5:30 AM. I also subscribe to the NY Times online, which I scan when I get into the office. NPR (thanks to my wife getting me hooked....come to think of it, I used to be a conservative too! :bbg: :bbg: ) is my source of radio news, and in spite of their recent problems, CBS evening news.(I still think they've got the best news organization)If something is breaking news, I always watch CNN.

I was surprised at the %age who get their news from the newspaper. I would have thought it would be higher.

    The Brain and Televison

Scarey to see so many people getting thier stuff and watching TV more than other sources.
The brain works less when watching TV than it does when asleep.

    Chip,
Contrary to what you think I am (I think), I'm fairly moderate in my views. Not compared to you, I know. ;) I like to hear both sides of an issue, and make my own decisions. Cheer leading and lock-stepping from either side of the aisle disgusts me.

    In order of exposure:

    NPR
    LA Times
    Wall Street Journal
    NY Times
    New Yorker (analysis only)
    Time-Newsweek

    In order of perference:
    NPR
    NY Times
    Wall Street Journal

Edit: The more I thought about this the more I realized that the only 'news' periodicals I read in something approaching cover to cover are the various technical magazines I get: Materials Research Society Bulletin, Physics Today, Optics and Photonics News, etc. I believe I'm least aware of their editorial bias (as opposed to NYT, NPR, WSJ where I'm always thinking about it), I wonder if I'm being indoctorinated by the technologists.

Hmmm. How much thought do you give to the editorial bias of 20/20 or Vision Monday?

I start the day with The Times (much easier to read now that it has gone from broadsheet to tabloid size), then on the drive to work BBC Radio 4, that usually does it for me.

Let's see... Lately, my favorite TV source is "Fox & Friends" on FNC in the morning. I used to watch Paula Zahn in the morning... The VOOM HDNews channel on the satellite system is actually pretty good. CNN is usually tolerable, but I can't change the channel fast enough when Judy Woodruff appears on my set!

    Newspapers
I catch USA Today when I'm traveling- that's the paper most hotels provide. WSJ is a nice treat when I'm in nicer lodgings (i.e., when we're doing a function for customers!)...

    Radio
I like NPR news- but have to admit I usually end up frustrated by their bias (of course, one person's "bias" is another's "complete objectivity")....

    Magazines
Used to read Time regularly, until I got fed up with their slant. I subscribe to Business 2.0, which is business news- but its very well done.

One thing related to this subject that I've noticed is the addition of FNC in the Delta Crown Rooms at the airports. They used to carry just CNN, but now most of them have two sets airing both channels now. My observation is that more people watch FNC- but that could be wishful thinking (I've factored that in, however, and I think there is a real tendancy towards Fox).

I understand Reuters is going to be getting into the fray- that should be interesting! They've provided a lot of the CNN content over the years...

    Up to date on the way to work on the radio;
    Internet (AP) during the day as needed;
mandatory two newspapers at lunch (one local, one national).

I truly enjoy reading the paper about 18 hours after it has gone to print and compare the commentary with reality...
