Help shrink JPEG picture size for posting

Most pictures taken with my digital camera are JPEG formats and are too large to post on Optiboard as a picture attachment.

Although I would like to contribute some pictures, I don't know how to reduce the size or change the format that would be within the parameters of the Optiboard forum.

Is there something in the Optiboard forum that can enable me to do this or is it something that is done with the software I received with my digital camera.

    Helpful advice appreciated!

You'll need to use a graphics program to do this. I use PhotoImpact XL but there are plenty of other program available. In fact you probably have something that was included with your digital camera.

Steve, do you know if software like iPhoto can do that also???

I use Adobe Photoshop and ImageReady for all graphics, prepress and web publishing. There is a substantial cost here. If your OS is MS Windows you can go to the Microsoft web site and download one of the Powertoys that will do the job for you at no cost.

An even easier method for Windows users is to:
Right click on the graphic that you want to make smaller

    Left Click “Send To”

    Left Click “Mail Recipient

A “Send Picture Via Email” dialog box opens

Select” Make all my pictures smaller” and click OK

An Email dialog box opens with the new image file in the attach box

Left click the file to select and then save to clipboard with CTRL C

Past it into Paint and save

    Voila

    Hope this helps.

    Kev ~

Your best bet is the free program IrfanView that has an awesome and fast image resizer.

I have a tutorial on how to use that feature and a link to download it:

** Dial-up users need be patient as this will take some time to load initially.
