  • Pilot vocational lenses

Had a request for some vocational lenses which are a progressive lens on the bottom, with a monostep segment on the top. It used to be called the "Pilot", (for pilots, so they could read their and lower instrument panels). Is this something that could be custom made, or is there a lens available by some other name?

    TGIF!!!

...strike one with the essilor lab, I called them and they havent had it for years, I called an independent lab too, same thing. I edged one of these years ago, but think it might have come from old Imperial Optical specials lab (and they havent been in business for over a decade).. Thanks though

I don't know that this is your exact solution, but you may want to check this recent post from Chris Ryser. It's post #34 on the "Enigma???" thread in the Ophthalmic Optics forum and here is a Web link to take you right to it:

Post this info on the market board with the BC and add that you need!
Maybe some of the Lab Rats have it on their shelfs!

...cool, stick on bifocal segments, that could work, distortion wouldn't be too much of an issue likely that high up on the lens. Thanks.

I was told by an Essilor rep two weeks ago that they are bring back the Pilot with some changes. But I do not expect that until later next year.
