    Bank Pricing on Ophthalmic Lenses

Is anyone taking advantage of ophthalmic lens banks? We just started taking a look at the pricing on ophthalmic lenses offered by the company that we normally order our soft contacts from, ABB Optical. We often take advantage of their Contact Lens banks and we were wondering if high index banks would be worth it. I have seen volume discounts before but this was the first time I have run into bank pricing on ophthalmic lenses.

If you run about 20 or so pairs of FSV 1.67 and maybe 5 or so pairs of 1.60 is bank pricing worth it? The banks are 10pr minimums.

(Note - please don't list any wholesale prices in response to this topic.)

Lens banks are not worth it.

You get killed on postage and handling, especially with the contacts. You end up paying more in the long run, even more so with contacts because the CL manufacturers give free shipping with a four box order and less of a hassle on trials.

Distributors more often have a second warehouse or backorders so you may pay postage three days in a row on the same order.

Still fuming over paying $30.00 in postage and handling for the 6 free eight tracks when I joined the Columbia record and tape club.
