    Looking for natural horn frames

    Hello All,

I am in the market for some natural horn frames. I am well aware of Jerry Huang and have contacted him. I wonder if you know of other manufacturers? In particular, who makes these? I'm told it is a German company:

    Horn ............................

Natural horn frames by Design Naturell wks Optik GmbH
The German company Design Naturell wks Optik GmbH specializes on making natural horn frames, and in Russia only Interoptika markets products of this firm.

The "natural horn" is a collective term to name horns of water buffalos and long-horned cows of the Middle and Southern Asia, Africa and South America. The natural horn is a unique natural material, in many respects superior to the plastics and metals used to make the vast majority of modern day spectacle frames.

    Advantages of natural horn frames

Natural horn frames are not mass-produced in any automated manufacturing processes, but are hand made, by highly qualified German craftsmen, people who maintain traditions of the craft nearly forgotten today. Every single frame which comes from such kind of a production is truly unique and individual

That particular frame you posted is made by Hoffman. Which is the same Company as Swiss Horn or at one point in Europe known as Eyesense they are all owned by one firm call IVKO GmbH. Design Naturell makes the Robi Horn frames so you might as well go right to the source. Other than those there is a Austrian company that does Horn frames and one other one in Germany and I believe the is another manufature for Horn frames in Florida.
    Hope this helps.

Spectacle Eyeworks in Canada has a limited line of Horn Frames. They are nice. If you have any more questions try contacting them. Mehran Baghaie, the designer, is very knowledgeable.

While Cartier has some great horn and wood pieces, I believe that Gold & Wood actually makes the horn and wood products that Cartier uses. So you might as well look at G&W if you were thinking Cartier. Same product but less cost.

My 2 cents for the day :)

    Hi ,

Yes,Buffalo horn is considered to be quite strong&light material, It 20% less weight than acetate frame. When use it to produce eyewear, it touches & looks really high grade.
The material costs higher, the processing is complicated which involves of many labors. Totally finished by handwork.

Color range: Dark(white&black), OX(White), Light Tortoise, Dark Tortoise, Brown, yellow, black horn .

Contact me if any further questions .
