Are we in the liability food-chain

I once asked one of the most famous opthalmologist in the medico~legal area: "Why don't we all (the three O's) get together and give rateings on frames?" My concern at the time was durability, etc.

I was told that if we did we would become part of the food~chain and become liable for failures of those we did recommend and subject to legal action for any condemed.

Now the question: If we recommend a particular physician/surgeon or proceedure (i.e. refractive surgery) are we part of the liablity food~chain, even tho we do not monetarily benefit from the proceedure?

Hey Chip, I believe any Lawyer worth his salt would name everyone no matter how remotely connected. Then the courts and insurance companies could hang them out to dry...Uh..determine liability.
