I tried to buy one of their drilling machines last spring and they would not take my order due to being backed up. The rep finally called be about 2 weeks ago and asked if I still wanted to buy. I said I did, but no longer from Santinelli.

We found it's much easier (and cheaper) to use DrillMaster. He's an optiboarder and does great work! No complaints at all!!

    Lenny,

price was around $62,000 @ Vision Expo......... the software darn near does a 3-D scan on the lens so the drill can actually be programmed for base curve, panto, depth, countersinking for washers on front surface, tilt etc etc .......... much better than another brand at the show that only drills straight through the lens regardless of parameters ............ total time to edge, notch, drill & polish a single cr-39 lens was about 5 minutes ......... scanner is a stand alone unit on this model, it is not installed in the edger itself

I've been running a Santinelli for 3 years now ...... after the initial setup and one follow up tech visit ..... my LE-9000SX has run consistently day in day out ..... strong point: ALL parameters are totally customizable to fit your personal needs

    Angry

    Thanks for the info!
    Sounds like a nice machine.
The price is quite a bit!
I am wondering if they would have as many or more problems with this edger as they had with 9000 when it just came out!?
Does anybody knows how long does Nidek has this model in Japan or Europe?

Sorry Guys. I run two sant. edgers at badass and we pump work through em all day long. Love them to death. But the new one that drills at the show, just isn't ready yet. Not fast enouph. And by the time you tell it how to drill what, I could have drilled 2 more pair on my own.

This is only my opinion after seeing it at the show. I have not run the edger enouph personally to know for sure.

And as said above Santinelli sells excellent product, and I remain a loyal customer.

No, but thought very hard. The rep also told me $62,000. For me that's a lot of money. I don't think so for this price unless you have lots of taxes and you want to write something off. The new Kappa CT-D that drills runs about $42,000. That includes everything. Tracer/blocker/built in scanner. I'm leaning toward this one. Or if you're good at drilling and alligning the slots, but do about 5 rimless a week or less, just go with any patternless edger( $27,000 or less) that you feel comfortable with and buy a smartdrill for about $2500. The price has gone up. It used to be $2200. Going this way, you're still under $30,000. Whatever your practice load, get what suits your budget and customer load.

What problems? I have had a 9000 for approx 7 months and so far so good.
