I am looking for opinions re: polarized lenses. Do you think polarized plastic (mid-index) or polarized polycarbonate is best for most RXs?

I really do not understand the question. With Poly you would get a thinner lighter lens and with CR-39 would you have a thicker heavier lens, depending on the RX. I have worn both. Saying that, I do feel tat it is important to get an AR coating on polarized as it makes it a lot clearer to see out of.
Depending on your RX, Maui Jim and Oakley both make a nice single vision Polarized lens, giving you more control over colour and lens treatments.
I do like polarized in polycarb if the RX warrants a thinner lens, I don't think there are very many quality mid-index polarized lenses on the market, and IIRC there are no hi-index plastic polarized availible readily. So in this case poly wins.
I recommend poly for sunglasses. You are outside where lenses are more likely to be struck by something that could break them and cause eye damage. You are also more likely to be doing activities that could lead to lens breakage. ome might think the chances are slim, but I take duty to warn seriously, and the risk is greater outdoors.
Never forget how easy poly scratches especially outside. Outside you also preceive more color (more distortion in poly). Lest we also forget optics in general are poorer in poly. So, you have to measure the usual trade-offs.

I have a pair of NuPolars in CR-39 and Poly, both with Crizal. So they are both equal in scratch resistance, and the optics are great out of both.Originally Posted by chip anderson

Actually these two lenses will (and do) have different scratch resistance. The poly will fair slightly worse than the CR though has a 'professional wearer' you probably won't notice a difference.Originally Posted by For-Life
I'm in the market for a new pair of polarized, it's good to hear a positive review. Thanks.
