I swear Harry is Einstein reincarnated - as an optician. Next thing coming from him will be the revolutionary theory of controlling light waves through a chip in the brain and eliminate all need for PAL's, LOL!!!

Awesome GAgal! Glad to have you onboard!

Harry just sent me another nice article on PALs. I am doing some editing on it right now. I should have it put into a new version of the document tonight.

How quick can you get them?

    Harry's in a hurry. ;)

I didn't put a rush on some of these other guys, I won't mention any names, <ahem> but one of them starts with Fezz <cough>, and we still haven't seen anything <cough, cough>. So, the sooner the better.

Feel free to start with a small chunk. We can always add/modify/improve later.

The latest version (v0.3) which includes Harry's PAL section is ready for download.

As you read through the document, please feel free to note any corrections, clarifications, grammatical errors, etc. The more proof readers we have, the better.

This is fantastic. I just looked over the guide, and as someone who unfortunately has to retake her ABO this spring, I like any extra study help. Especially when it's all nice and new information, unlike the outdated stuff I used before.

Here's to beating my previous score...

Harry stikes again! The latest version here includes Harry's section on Multifocals.

    http://www.laramyk.com/education/ope...udy-guide.html

Harry has also taken it upon himself to start writing review questions and has submitted 15 or so multiple choice questions for the first section. Is anyone else willing to help out with review questions? We'll first publish a companion document with review questions and answers, then we'll try to get all the questions into a question bank online so people can take practice tests and get scored, so the more questions the better.

GAgirl, Fezz, and Bob, how are your sections coming? If you don't hurry, Harry's going to step in and steal your thunder. ;)

The next logical step for OpenOptix seems to be an NCLE study guide. So, please let me know if anyone (other than Harry) might be interested in contributing to that project. An outline similar to what I put together for the ABO guide would be a great place to start.

Hello! The first section is done and I'm working on the occupational lenses. I should have it for you soon. I'll write review questions on different sections also, if you'll let me know what you need (I would hate to take anything away from Harry :bbg:). I can also help with the NCLE study guide

You rock, I was going to write reviews going from chapter to chapter, so far I have sent in chapters one and two, didn't look at three yet or any of the others so if anyone is interested in a particular chapter just claim it and I'll work on something else. Glad to see the creme rise to the top ladies and gents.

The second section has been sent off to Keith.

Only 45 more articles to go and I will catch Harry Chilling.

Awesome job guys! Here is the first official "complete" version of the OpenOptix ABO Study guide.

    http://www.laramyk.com/education/ope...udy-guide.html

Many thanks to everyone that has helped with this project so far!

While the guide is complete now, in the sense there is infomation under each section, I do not consider it finished. In addition to the immediate improvements and editing that still need to be completed, my hope is that those who have contributed, continue to help improve the document; those that use the document for training, provide feedback; and those that use the guide to study for their exam, let us know where need to improve. In this way it will continue to improve over time and ultimately become the best training resource available for ABO certification and basic optical training.

This week I will work on additional diagrams and see if I can get permission from someone to use photos of tools and instruments. I will also work on compiling the review questions and start looking at quiz software for taking review tests online. In the mean time, keep the review questions coming and suggestions for improvement coming!

    This is great!

Now we need a way to promote the guide and get it in front of as many people as possible.

HarryC, can you hack Google to make it the first site listed for every search?

Would it be worth while to send links to the schools with opticianry programs? Or maybe even to ABO to list as a study guide?

I really wish I had something like this when I was starting out.

Congratulations and thank you to everyone that has contributed to this, especially Keith for hosting and organizing everything.
