Shorter corridor lens = less intermediate. If the customer insists on the smaller frame, bump the add by 0.25D - it has worked for me.
Our lab has always used Essiclean. We recently switched to Markaway - no difference, except that you don't pass out from the smell when using it! Great product!
Here's a shot in the dark. CR-39 will scratch up horribly in a gritty, dusty work environment. Glass won't. Maybe the instructor is leaning towards the fact that you cannot see hazards in the...
We have a SV, bifocal and Progressive value package. It is not advertised but used as a last resort in order to help a customer who truly cannot afford the higher end stuff. We also offer a "no name"...
Are they rubbing the sprayed lenses with their fingers and then wiping them? Also, check their nosepads. Some people get a lot of oily build-up around the pads and the guard arms. When they clean...

This definitely sounds like stress on the lenses to me. I know that poly and Trivex are not the same, however, our lab was experiencing alot of unexplained "wavy lines" on our poly lenses. When we...
Our store uses mainly Essilor/Varilux products. When an Optom prescribes a Zeiss Individual, I have been using the Physio 360 for basic Rx's, and Physio f-360 for higher adds, higher spheres or high...
scriptfiller,
I am aware that Trivex has a better ABBE than poly,(43 vs 30 to be exact) but the huge change in cyl combined with the lower ABBE of Trivex vs CR-39 could also be causing some problems...
Hi all, I am looking for an online version of a user manual for the Gerber Coburn Eclipse blocker. Anyone know where I can get one?
Thank for your help.
A number of customers at my store suddenly saw "foggy rings" around lights and items at nightime. After many redos and re-checks, we realized that the blocking pads that we were using were staining...
Has the patient worn Trivex before? I have had experiences where patients cannot adapt to poly and problems were eliminated by using CR-39
I live in Canada, but for crazy stuff like this I always use Nikon. They have the new SeeStyle lenses made specifically for high base curves - up to 10, and they will guarantee up to a 6.00D cyl.
Seiko has a foldable ophthalmic frame. It comes with a custom case that is about the size of a 70mm lens blank.
We also had this happening and then we realized that they were actually supplying us with old Alize stock and passing it off as Forte!!
Children are notoriously hard to fit nosepads for. Rather than using the 9mm button pads, which can cause soreness, try turning a 11 or 13mm teardrop pad upside down so that the wider part carries...
We use the Marchon AirLock rimless. They don't seem to loosen as easily as the Silhouette frames.
She tried the new lenses for about 2 weeks per redo. I switched her back to her old pd's on remake #2. The Comfort DSX is not a lens that we have in our usual "repetoire" of lenses, but that would...
I suggested to my Manager after the first 2 redos that we needed to put her back into the Comfort. It has been my experience that if a patient has worn an Essilor lens for a long time without...
