We are using it. I guess if you want all your records on the computer and not in a file it works okay. I don't see how it saves any time, though.
you dont think it will safe some time for doc? plus, i see that have inteface for some equpment as well, like autoref, fundus camera and etc..
Also, billing is easier as well..
well, i am still thinking since they have promontional rates right now for prictices who take VSp..
We just got a new digital camera and are having problems linking it to Exam Writer but maybe we just need to get the kinks out. We don't have it linked to the autorefractor.
I guess there is a learning curve with anything new. We have been using it for about 15 months. I guess the doctor's like it because they are still using it.
I don't know about billing since I don't do that. If might work out well for you.
We went with EW in April 2009 after using OfficeMate with paper charts for the past 6 years. EW works fine, interfaces quite nicely with all of our equipment (ARK, fundus camera, slit lamp camera, lensmeters, NCT). It generally doesn't save the doc (me) a lot of time but speeds up pre-testing. All EMR will slow the doc down initially. If your paper exam form was designed correctly, the doc should have minimal handwriting with a paper chart. EMR saves time for the rest of the office in pre-testing, no time looking for charts, removing some of the repetitive double-entry with writing up orders and filing insurance.
