if idispence would have seen that post last night he/she would not have been able to sleep.
Idispense only let out a yawn, put head phones on and was snoring once again to the sounds of QUEEN

Some things never change , especially when it comes to accountability and transparency. NOW we ONLY have to go to the denturists website to read and learn that we as opticians once again have no registrar. I would have thought that the announcement would first be on the opticians website then next on the denturist website or politeness and etiquette would have ruled the announcement would have been done simultaneously on both web sites.
OH well at least we are seeing what was advertised and announced ...... Change.
Ya know the College makes advertised claims constantly that proclaim Accountability, Transparency, Integrity and Efficiency but ya know something, for almost 2 million per year in license renewal fees, I'd like to see more relevant Legal updates past October 2010 for the Bergez case and I think a little consideration would be in order for the membership that pays all the bills and the salaries.
Announcements should be made for current news and relevant news to the members. Why should we pay salaries and maintain an old news, out of date website and have to go to another colleges website for information on what's going on in our own profession ? Where is the efficiency in that ? Where is the transparency in that ?
Shouldn't these items be posted and updated on our own website in a timely and current fashion ?
What do you think ?
Bravo idispense
So what's going on over at the Denturist place ? Was there a supervisor put in there a year ago or is my memory poor?
OH YEAH here it is :
http://www.fairnesscommissioner.ca/i...sts_of_ontario
oh look it seems they got some issues according to the above link:
"Fair Registration Practices (FRP) Report, 2012
On March 26, 2012, the Government of Ontario appointed a supervisor to address fairness and transparency concerns at the College of Denturists of Ontario.
In May 2010, the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care had hired a consultant to conduct an operational review and audit of the college, because she received complaints about its operations.
The consultant based the review on the principles of transparency, objectivity, impartiality and fairness advanced by the Office of the Fairness Commissioner."
Hmmmm , like the opticians, maybe they need a new web site made for them out of old data too ? Its easier to do that than put teeth in transparency, objectivity, impartiality and fairness. Roflmao, that's a false teeth pun !!!
Hey does anyone do math here ?
Hypothetically speaking from 2007 to 2013 would that be about 6 years ?
Hypothetically speaking if license fees be about 750.00 and hypothetically speaking if there were 2300 opticians
then does 750.00 X 2300 X 6 = ten million three hundred and fifty thousand dollars ?
Does that mean opticians have put over ten million into the "protect the public accountability pot" and yet there are still outstanding discipline cases from six years ago ?
In fairness and transparency would it be reasonable for a new/old website to elaborate some details on these ancient discipline cases and estimate how many more millions they think they need to get on with its public protection mandate ?
We don't need facades and face lifts or more false teeth.
In fact it's very doubtful that we needed a new website of old data.
Hey ya know what, I was just thinking, being that opticians are friendly folks wouldn't it be great if we threw a party for our brothers and sisters over at the denturists place, I mean we got a lot in common with false teeth , maybe they could learn from our Internet experiences and we could give them a jump start ?
yeah we could teach them how to set up Internet dispensing for fake teeth , it can't be hard , we know all about teaching the consumer how to measure their own pds and we certainly can teach those cheeky devils how to send the consumer to a real dentist for free adjustments and problem solving when the measurements are off a tad.
It cost us millions to assist in developing theses technologies, we should share our extensive knowledges. No point letting these denturists learn the hard way when we know all about turning the other cheek
Hey what's the similarity between an optician and a denturist ?
They both have to pull teeth to get anything done !!!!
Hey what do opticians and denturists have in common ?
They both go to the same web site to learn news in their professions !! The denturist web site !
blah, blah, blah, blah, blah
Hey seeing as how we are sharing their website maybe we could expand our scope of each others practises and we could both become "Denticians"
It's unfortunate that a self regulated profession such as the opticians of Ontario have had such a bad run of luck. I remember years ago the board and the opticians they served took great pride in representing the public and their profession. This is most likely political fallout from the Jay Hakim/Chris Namvarazad lawsuit facing the college and the then registrar.
Excerpt from Thespec.com
"Jay Hakim, of Burlington, and Chris Namvarazad, of Toronto, are suing Ontario’s College of Opticians, registrar Abena Buahene, president David Milne and vice-president Roque Fernandes over several bizarre statements the pair allege were made about them last year."

Hopefully she will have a better opportunity with the Denturists than she has experienced at the college of opticians.
Although your statement on political fallout may be correct, if we could back up in time, isn't the real issue a wrong analysis of the root problem and wrongful analysis of what is necessary to fix the root problem ?
For the sake of hypothetical argument, if a condo board receives a repair complaint and then they send in an electrician to fix a clogged toilet when clearly a plumber was required who is at fault ?
Any one wish to place a bet on when they might inform their own membership on their own website ?
as always they are too busy partying and unable to inform the membership
doug nobody sues anybody unless they have grounds for it what political fall are you talking about
Excellent question. If there was a defence then why leave and why would there be any fall out ?
that's right idispense it only makes sense and why would these 2 guys spend there hard earned resources on lawyers, also on the coo website jay hakim has been removed on jan 28, 2013 so why is his name still showing he's the elected member for district 1 that's bizarre, what a contradiction
It takes a lot of arrogance to remove a member elected official, which essentially censures the membership voting process. The arrogance continues by ordering a new web site but refusing to keep it current, updated and informative to both the membership and the public they protect and serve.
Who's job is it to update the web site ? Who hires the person to update it ?
A council is made up of both public people and opticians, sounds like they are all censoring the membership that pays the bills.
both public and elected council members plus half a dozen of nominated members[real helpers] are taking a siesta
