Our long time optician left. Does anyone have an operating manual or a copy of a manual for The WECO 440.
Wow, I feel like the guy hangin on the cliff by his fingertips. Is there anybody else there ???
PM sent.
Shame on you Fezz!:D
Shame on me?
Shame on me?
I believe that I helped you out plenty with your Weco 440 concerns! You were an established Optiboard member, and I charged you all but nothing. You respectfully returned whatever I sent, and paid more than enough in liquid courage.
We have a new member, who has never contributed to the board in any way. I offered to help.
I bought and paid for several Weco 440's. I bought and paid for the service manual that went with them. I bought and paid for service and parts on these machines many times over.
Should I be expected to give away my hard earned money for free?
As you know, I can be very generous and helpful.
Shame on me for trying to recoup some of my investment?
Shame on me.........
I guess that you were expecting much less?
Do you give your knowledge away?
Is having a service manual that you are in desperate need of {to MAKE MONEY}, of any value?
How much money will you make or save by using that Weco 440? I bet a whole helluva lot more than what I am asking!
I offered something that I thought may be of value to you.
Fezz, I certainly didn't mean to offend you. You know I appreciate your help and insight!
No, you should not give away your hard earned money for free.
In hindsight there is no shame in making an offer, it is his choice to accept or refuse.
After thinking about the original post I am curious why the Optician left (although it's none of my business) and I am sure that Optician knew there would be no one there to run the edger.
Hmmmmm....
:( BMH
BMH,The optician was a good friend. His wife lost a 10 year battle with cancer. 10 years ago I bought his floundering practice providing him with much needed cash. I paid him well for 10 years. It was a win-win. He decided he needed a complete change of location making it impracticle to help me.

Welcome to the forum, vin......................first you have to become a bona fide member of the 440 Club, acceptance can be a tad difficult.................... then and only then, a member can be approached to supply you with any vintage 440 belt your heart desires.
ahhh the old weco 440...i remember using one of those...man i hated that thing...had to guide the wheels by hand if i wanted a good bevel (and dont ask how, it was ugly).
thanks for info..I really appreciate it!! the only problem I have right now is I don't know the part number..can someone there help me? I need both belts for weco 440.
Lens spindles are driven by 3 belts......but the main drive belt(drive motor to shaft) is 3132-0213.
Main quill motor to grind shaft belt is a v-belt. You can use a Gates Polyflex(tm) belt 5M-545 or 560, .......Weco part number is 3131-0210
Welcome to the 440 club........the 1967 Mustang of edgers!
