I'm not usually this untech- savvy, but I'm stumped.

I have an iPaq, am using Outlook 2000, and ActiveSync 3.7.1 both at home and work.

I have no issues at work, which is the mainhost, but everytime I sync with the home PC, I get the following error:

LDAP Directory
can't contact LDAP Directory server (81)

and it's a pain in the @$$. Every little thing causes this error.

I've been all over Microsoft, and no luck. Thoughts??

Shwing,
How are you attempting to sync? USB cable?.......Infrared or Wi Fi ?

I would tend to lean towards Outlook being the problem.......not Activesync.
This issue may occur if an address book that uses Internet directory services (LDAP) is configured in Microsoft Outlook, and Outlook cannot contact the LDAP server that is configured for that LDAP address book.
If you are not using Internet directory services (LDAP), remove the LDAP address book. To do so:
Start Outlook (if it is not already started).
On the Tools menu, click E-mail Accounts.
Under Directory, click View or change existing directories or address books, and then click Next.
Under Directories and Address Books box, click the LDAP address book that you want to remove, and then click Remove.
Click Finish.
Quit, and then restart Outlook.

Or

If you are using Internet directory services (LDAP), make sure that the settings for the LDAP address book are configured correctly. To do so:
Start Outlook
On the Tools menu, click E-mail Accounts.
Under Directory, click View or change existing directories or address books, and then click Next.
Under Directories and Address Books box, click the LDAP address book that you want to configure, and then click Change.
Verify that the settings for the LDAP server are correct.
Click Next, and then click Finish.

Let me know if this helps or not.

Ya know, I think it has worked!!

that was two days ago. since then I've lost everything I've installed on the pocket PC, as there was some conflict between my usb and activesync. Lost it all. I'm about ready to lose it on this little friend of mine....

thanks for the help
