I just finished building my own PC for the first time. Here's the basic system:

Motherboard: Asus P4C800 Deluxe
CPU: P4 2.8Ghz w/Hyper-threading and 800Mhz system bus
Ram: 2Gb
Drives: 2 Western Digital 160Gb SATA
Graphics: ATI Radeon 9600 XT
DVD: Pioneer 8x8 DVD +-R/RW with 24x CD-R and CD-RW
DVD: Memorex 16x DVD and 48x CD readers
OS: Windows XP Professional

I'm actually quite amazed that everything seems to be working right the first time. I usually have to redo at least a few things. http://images.vbulletin.com/images_vb3/smilies/smile.gif

There is one little thing that bothers me though. The boot screen would seem to indicate I didn't install the correct version of Windows XP.

Actually next time I probably shouldn't purchase the Operating Sytem at a Swap Meet. ;)

Geez - what the heck you gonna do with that thing? Send someone to the Moon?I've always wanted to do something along the line of dual cpu's. For the most part there is no noticable speed increase per say when doing regular tasks. But it does become apparent when running multiple apps such as while burning CDs or doing a disk operation, the small freezes and glitches that can happen while running multiple apps are gone, overall better resource handling and no discernable slowdowns when many background services and programs are running, or burn a DVD while rendering an audio file and surfing the net without fear of having a meltdown.

What OS do you run? For now.........NT. Or maybe i should say for good.......as my Xp pro license still resides on the other system and i plan on keeping that. This is something of a debate for me ......XP Pro does support dual P4 HT thats why i went with them and i've become acustom to the interface of XP to that of NT. I have given thought of dual booting but the problems and chance of system instability tend to make me shy away from that. I really want to stay with just one O.S. Any help/comments or thoughts between the the two would be appreciated.:nerd:

We apple folks don't have too much trouble with one.....why would we need 2? :):)I thought that Apple was going with a dual strategy on all of their new power notebooks/desktops. Since i dont keep up much on their doings i just wanted to know if what i heard had become reality.:)
