Jim, when Transitions were first released many years ago, we were told that it had an active life of about 32 months (the life of an average Rx)
Is NG any different?

Where this has been a problem, is in the case of a one eye only Rx change. What we reccomend now is to change both lenses so the color will remain uniform.(probably still a good idea but thought I'd get it straight from the horse's mouth.)

Thanks

Hi HC,
I hope all is well.
The Transitions 1.50 NG are 3X more fatigue resistant than the TIII product. The new product sustains a much better level of clarity than ever before too. (virtually no more yellow!)
From what I have seen of the lenses that have been through 2 Florida summers (and one very springlike winter with this autumn that may as well be a summer), there is no noticeable loss of activity or coloration.
I would recomend taking a new lens and the damaged lens, compare indoor clarity for a match, go outside and cycle through activation and fade making sure that it is a good match. It will all depend on the patients lifestyle and how much time was spent outdoors in bright sunlight.
The more of an outdoor person along with the age of the lens, the greater chance of possible complete lens change out.
With the improvements made, full changeouts should be a thing of the past. If a changeout is needed, the patient may be well past the time for another Rx exam.

I will be at the East-West Eye Conference in Cleveland the rest of this week, a great time to head back to Transitions Opticals Fatherland of North East Ohio and to take in real football weather and another round of the pro footballs greatest rivalry, Browns vs. Stillers (Western PA pronunciation)
Jim

There are 12 real pro football teams, the rest were created for television.

Thanks Jim,

Well I'm glad you thought to include the NY Giants in your 12!! Cleveland/NY used to be quite a rivalry also!
