ESSILOR ANNOUNCES WINNER OF “VARILUX® VISUAL FREEDOM” SWEEPSTAKES
VISION EXPO WEST, LAS VEGAS - (September 12, 2002) – More than 1,600 eye care practitioners and their staffs have been declared winners of the successful six-month “Varilux® Visual Freedom” sweepstakes. Prizes ranging from pre-paid phone cards and Palm® VIIx handheld organizers were up for grabs with the grand prize being an all-expenses paid trip to Hawaii. Grand Prize winner Carla Frazier, an employee with Dr. Gordon R. Boyd’s practice in Crawfordsville, Indiana, will soon be experiencing a newfound freedom all her own in Hawaii.
“The Varilux® Visual Freedom contest was fun and creative,” said Frazier. “The promotion was based on Essilor’s “The Presbyopic 6” consumer advertising campaign. I just encouraged our patients to take the Varilux® trivia quiz and word game. Now I’m off to Hawaii!”
All eye care professionals had one opportunity to enter this game of chance and they were encouraged to share the trivia quiz booklet (crossword puzzle, word search and word match games) with their patients and co-workers. The booklet offered questions about “The Presbyopic 6” television campaign including the definition of presbyopia and information about the world’s best selling progressive lens, Varilux® of course.
“Our intent is to educate eye care professionals and their presbyopic patients at every possible point about the premier Varilux lens solution,” said John Carrier, senior vice president of marketing for Essilor of America. “Games and sweepstakes are fun ways to get into the Varilux spirit and anyone can win, so why not play?”
