OK, when did Poly Transitions start getting so dark? I took a pair for a walk today and held them alongside my NG's and they darkened to the same density; they did it pretty quick too for just coming out of the box. I remember Poly never getting as dark as other photochromics.

How well do Poly Quantum Transitions fair over time now? The old poly photochromics used to actually peel and turn an awful color in a year or so. Have improvements been made to increase the lifespan of these lenses?

One of my co-workers has a child who wears -10.00 +/- poly transitions, for about 3-4 years now (and he's only 5) and I thought that seemed to always get darker in density than -10 cr39 transition. I don't know in comparison to the NG's tho! Haven't seen anyone in a -10 get'em yet.:p

Hello Jo and Bren,

The Quantum Technologies products have been out for almost 2½ years now.

The point to remember is all Transitions Lenses offer the best technology in that particular material, design and color.

Jo....we have never had a return for any Poly, Trivex or 1.67 High Index product for the conditions you descibe in either the TIII (offered from 1998-2000) or in the Quantum Technologies generation. If you ever come across a Transitions poly lens that peels or discolors from normal use please contact me immediately.

The fatigue life is for 2-3 years depending on out of doors time spent. There is little to no discoloration in these products as they age.

regards,
Jim

Jim,

The problem Poly's I was referring to were years ago. I haven't really dispensed any since; that's why I was surprised by how nice the new Poly Transitions were.

The only time we've ever seen a Poly Quantum peel is when we tried to strip AR coating off the lens. Bad idea.
