I must be overlooking something simple here but........what is the maximum file size(not pixel width) for avatars on the OB:confused:

Steve Machol
04-12-2002, 09:56 PM
About 18 Kb. Any larger than that and it starts slowing down the Board for people on dialup conenctions.

Sean
04-12-2002, 10:23 PM
So the decreasing of a image size has no bearing (within limits) on what can be used as an avatar. You just have to hold true to the 18kb file size.Correct?...........

Steve Machol
04-12-2002, 10:31 PM
And no larger than 65x65 pixels.

Sean
04-12-2002, 10:48 PM
Thank's for the info.
I've always kept true the 65x65 pixel width(or smaller)I was not sure that if i cut that limit down that i could increase the upload size.

Sean use the [ img] tag,(take the space out to use.....) but remember you have to upload the files to somewhere on the net. Do you get free webspace via your isp.... If not there are plenty of places that do it....
You may even be able to do it via you own pc so long as its on and you know the ip address and can get passed any firewall or other (nat) blocker....

 but of course:eek: unfortunatley the only way i can make the sound work in the animation is to use flash but you can't upload flash files to the board.

Jenny your image url http://dogruns.gif isn't pointing anywhere.
you need to upload it to some web space and then point to it.:bbg: for it to display correctly.

Steve Machol
10-02-2002, 05:09 PM
Or you can use the 'Attach file' option when posting your message and upload it to OptiBoard.

John R
10-02-2002, 05:10 PM
Jenny, http://dogruns.gif is not a proper url. You need to know the url of where the file is kept.
Usually something like "http://www.mywebspace.com/filehere/filename.gif"

Jedi,
Of all five movies so far, which one do you like best?

Jedi
01-05-2003, 02:33 PM
Empire Strikes Back is my favorite. Best story, good cliffhanger.
I feel that Lucas has "dumbed down" the new ones in order to appeal little kids and to sell more toys. Regardless, I has still waited in line for both of them and plan to do the same for Episode 3, will a glimmer of hope that it will blow me away.
