We have heard a report via someone at work that there is a small problem with the Ng's and prolonged exposure to heat (20-30 C), which is causing the lenses to lighten even if there is plenty of sun.
Now i'm bit skepitical about this as it would be strange for transitions to release a product with this kind of problem.
Any comments.
Seeing as it is 8 AM here and I am not mentaly ready to convert degrees C to F all I can say is I have had mine for over two weeks now and worn them in temperatures between 25-60 degrees F and not had any problems at all with performance. I am wearing Varilux Panamic NG's with Crizal. Most of our weather has been on the cooler side for the last week and a half and the preformance is great. The other day was all blue skies and sun, the temperature was around 29 F and my lenses turned darker than our stock plano sun lenses.
Warmer weather has to get here soon so I will get back to you. ;)

Hello John and Jo,
I hope all is well.
20-30°c is only 68 to 86°F....Not only Next Gen 1.50 but all Transitions Lenses thrive in those conditions.
Last summer I was in Phoenix Az....115°F around 45-46°C and the lenses were in the 75% tint range (25% T) or as dark as TIII 1.50 was in the 80° range (25-27°c)
regards,
Jim
Jim,
It is good to hear you had a pair last summer and they preformed well. I have been impressed by their preformance so far and was wondering how they would do in the summer myself. We don't get as hot as 115 degrees so I am glad to hear about your experience with them.
How long have the Next Generation lenses been in development? It sounds like Transitions really did their homework on them before releasing them to market.

One of the things I saw in NY was the Transitions presentation on NG. They had an impressive graph that showed the evolution in photochromic performance from the first generation Transitions lens to NG. I thought that one graph said more that anything else I've seen about how far they've come.
I searched the Transitions site in vain for this graph but found nothing. In fact I found very little of the information they showed in their presentation. Perhaps Jim can get copies of this information and post it here.
