View Full Version : Jumping
Steve, I have upgraded to IE-6. Since the upgrade, each time I click on a page within OB, the screen performs the following events;
1) displays top of page
2) suddenly jumps to bottom of page
3) returns to top of page
This never happened on IE-5.5. And I would blame the whole thing on MS IE-6 (isn't everything MS's fault?), except this is the only site this happens on. any suggestions?

I honestly have no idea. I'm using IE 5.0, IE 5,5 and NS 4.72 and haven't seen this symptom. It's possible it could be due compatibility problems with the drop-down menu program I'm using.
Anyone else using IE 6.0 who is having this problem?
I am using IE5 and it does the same thing. It is like it automatically refreshes the screen for some reason; perhaps it is the way we have our refresh rates set that is causing it.
Don't see how the refresh rate could be it - 1st cause I ain't changed it. And 2nd, a refresh rate of 80+ is hardly visible to the eye. Going to try going step-by-step through the IE6 options and see if any "undocumented features" are at work.
Thanks for the reponses gang.
Sorry JRS, I didn't mean refresh rate. I meant how many times a sessin IE compares the current page to what is stored in cache. At least I think that is is it. I am set to "automatically" check internet files.

I suspect this may be due to some compatibility issues between IE 6 and the drop-down menu I'm using. When I get back home and have the time, I'll set up a special page without this menu and ask you to check it with IE 6.

Seems this is something to do with ie6, having upgraded from 5.5sp2 which didnt do it, now it does it at just about every site i visit.
I think it has to do with tables and how it handles them.
Thanks for commenting John R.
Glad to know I'm not the only one watching this thing flip down, then up as the page loads. You did mention that for you, it happens on other sites - just does it here for me. No other sites seem to exhibit the problem.
Tried disabling several features in IE6, but to no avail. Perhpas, as Steve mentioned, it's the way the drop down menus work here. I certainly don't have a clue.

It's possible, as John says, that this is due to the way IE 6 renders tables. OptiBoard uses LOTS of tables - primarily so that the forums display properly with Netscape. If it weren't for maintaining NS compatibility, the table structure would be much simpler.
