Rather interesting day today - odd day off so my wife drags me to a estate sale. I found a few odd lots of optical goods, including a box of 20 frames (my wife kept one pair of sunglasses) - by all accounts, brand new. Only a few were left in their frame bags, but they're all in superb, resalable condition. Here's the list:
Kate Spade:
Maggie FH4 50/17
Maggie FH3 48/17
Eden Y08 49/17
Chelsea SR5 49/18
Chelsea SR6 47/18
Linny SS6 50/16
Blue EN2 48/16
Jourdan/S Y35 51/17
Berkeley/S FA4 55/15
Vita/S TR6 58/15
Valentino:
5317 01E 48/17
5368 ZX4 48/17
5329 JW1 49/17
5431 Q45 53/18
5431 Q47 51/18
5290 04Z 51/16
3001/S Q2J 54/17
Nine West:
NW125 RU5 45/16
NW68 l6V 47/16
I don't know the history behind them, nor do I know how all these optical goods (most were optician's tools) came to be at this estate sale. Anyway, the person holding the sale knew the value of these frames - but I convinced him that most of them are discontinued (I think maybe two or three of them actually are) so he reduced the price for me by quite a lot. Manufacturer cases were included with this lot.
My office doesn't sell any of these lines any longer - I bought them knowing that someone here would find value in them. I only want to get out of the lot what I put into it. Anyone that deals with Safilo knows the wholesale value of this lot. I'd like to get out of them what I put into them plus the cost of shipping. So I'd like to sell the entire lot for $325.
OH MY!!!!
As much as I LOVE SAFILO...(dripping with SARCASM), I can't take advantage of this deal right now.
Good luck!

I think that this guy really DID know the value of these frames.
Good Luck!

I look at it this way - I can still sell them to my office (for a profit) and my office can sell them for a profit. I just don't have room for them on the boards right now - so I'd rather see them in an office that could use them now. You can't beat just over $17/frame for Kate Spade and Valentino.
JOHNS and FEZZ should excersize some restraint. I am fairly new to this board but one thing I have learned is that these two screen names love to chime in. If you don't want to buy frames then don't but why try to sabotage this persons ability to sell the frames.
The Good Lucks and Beers seem like hollow gestures to me.

Your right! Fezz and Johns are very bad people! In fact I have it from a good source that they kill puppies...for fun!!! These two fools need to be taken care of! Whose with me!!! Don't worry BMH we all love to bust each others chops! Fezz and Johns are highly lovable Optiboarders and will never miss a chance to mess around with some one. It's all in fun. A word to the wise here my friend. Referring to our holy drink (beer) as a hollow gesture is not a good idea. It's like spitting in the holy water at church! For this offense...you must sacrifice a six pack!!! Besides there's a bit of a back story regarding Johns and impulse buying. Just email him if you need a palate of plus poly finished lenses!

First of all, we don't kill puppies for fun, we do it for research. (If it happens to be fun, that's not the intent.
And thirdly, how's this for hollow?:cheers::cheers::cheers:

RESTRAINT!!!??!!
Does the wind stop blowing? Do rivers stop flowing? Does the sun stop shining? Does Lux stop screwing independents? The only time I even remotely practice restraint is when I'm trying to trim my boyish figure down a bit so that I can fit into my Speedos in time for the Vision Expo Pool Party. Restraint isn't a word I'm fond of.
Chiming in?
VERY CLEVER ! Chimes do nothing but blow in the wind, but I, on the other hand...well, Ok, you got me on that one. (I can't speak for Fezz on this one)
Want to Buy the Frames?
Of course we want to buy the frames! The problem is, we're opticians, and therefore, can't afford them! So, Fezz comes out saying he hates Safilo (in reality, his middle name is Safilo). Then, I come out and say they're not even worth close to what they paid, thus trying to devalue the product (In reality, I know what they wholesale for, and know it's not a bad deal). Next, Fezz will PM the seller at say $50, then I'll PM them an offer of $75 AND offer to pay the shipping. It works everytime (except this time, since you caught us).
If you think I'm just making this up, e-mail Fezz and he'll confirm it. His e-mail is www.fezzlovessafilo.com (http://www.fezzlovessafilo.com) .
And BMH, welcome to the board! We need friends like you, especially since Optidonn has turned the optical world against us.
Can we buy you a beer?:cheers::cheers:

I look at it this way - I can still sell them to my office (for a profit) and my office can sell them for a profit.
Or better yet, break them out at the next family reunion and sell them for a huge profit, even with the family discount. (Just charge them double for the lenses.)

Welcome to the party late BMH. Sorry that you think Johns and I are Schmucks. Johns is really nice, I'm the schmuck. Your right, maybe we should have showed some restraint and stayed out of this thread. But, I see your post did nothing for the sale either! Maybe you should have stayed out as well. Audio should thank us because we have kept his thread at the top of the forum list!
If you have a personal problem or vandetta against me, please PM me or take it to the moderators and plead your case.
Good Luck!

wanna really have some fun, call the Safilo rep and schedule an appointment, then when they come in tell them that they had to see this one, since you got these frames from so guy so cheap you would be willing to let him have them for a dollar more than your purchase and he can then turn and make a small fortune on those frames.
I would love to see the look on the reps face. :D

Wasn't out to make money on them - figured someone here could take advantage of the find I found - just passed along to someone else. I broke even on them and that's all I expected to do.

Fezz seeing this is a discussion board and I've never met you I don't have a personal problem with you. I guess I should or could have kept my comments to myself but I chose not to. I do know however I got my point across.
I do like the way JOHNS broke both of your comments down to say what you guys really meant.
I humbly apologize for any negative comments about BEERS. I really was just refering to the good lucks and beers associated with this one topic.
My favorite is Miller High Life Lite, cheap and easy to drink.
I'll practice some restraint myself next time.

What is the fun in that?
Stick around awhile you'll get to know everybody's quirks, backgrounds and general feelings on alot of topics and you'll understand short posts that actually have history behind them.

Hey BMH-
Now thats stepping up. I applaud you for that!
Welcome to the party. Most of us are really fun, and good to get to know. Now, I mostly suck, but....you already knew that! ;)
Anyway, this rounds on me, and if we ever get the priviledge to meet, those rounds are on me as well.

Been there, done that. I was a member of beer of the month (http://www.beermonthclub.com/) for 6 years. My preference is the heavy 50W oil - hearty and not for the weak pallet. I'm just not a fan of the American pilsner style - and most american beers (regardless of the malts, barleys and hoops used) are based on the pilsner style of brewing. I enjoy a good German Edelweiss every now and then (my favorite being from the Munich Hofbrauhaus), but otherwise I'll stick with the 50W motor oils of beer. Guinness Extra Stout being my favorite.

Well yes, macros like Bud, Miller, Coors are lagers... so, yes, they are pilsner-ish (since a pilsner is a lager). I drink them like they're bottled water. However, the great USA is also home to some of the best IPA's and Stouts in the world. Seeing how you are in Michigan, go try some Three Floyd's Dreadnaught and Darklord. I'm sure you can get those at a beer/wine specialty store locally (not your corner liquor store though). Those two micro's will change your outlook on american beers forever!
Sorry for the digression there mods...

Johns and Fezz show very little restraint on here. Maybe just too many beers.
I, however, am known for showing restraint. I seldom say what I really think.
The guy did pay too much for the frames.
To buy something and just want to get your money back sounds like a con to me. What's the purpose?

Hmmmm...ask the guy who bought them - he's posted in this thread. I simply saw an opportunity to pass on somewhat of a deal - I made nothing on the deal (and considering I somehow forgot to package one of the frames and had to ship one out separately, I actually am out about $2.00).
If the office I'm in sold those lines, I might have thought a bit harder about keeping them and selling them to the doc I work for. But the only Safilo we carry now is Adensco and Armani. And I didn't feel like trying to move frame lines that just didn't sell well in this office in the past. We're in a small community and inventory turn is slow at times - even on knock downs.
So there's my purpose - you got me, I'm guilty of passing on a deal to someone else. Next time I promise to make a profit.

Don't get me wrong on the American beers - I enjoy plenty of excellent micros I just don't have time to run to one of the few specialty stores we have in this town to find what I really like. Guinness and Sam Black tend to be stocked at most larger grocers - so they're an easy choice for me.
