Congratulations! They say reading to the baby before s/he is born makes them smarter... perhaps some Neal Stephenson?
Best of luck!

I don't know about that... She despises pickles. I've been kidding her about it though, saying she'll be needing to go to Disneyland for late night runs on their pickles and churros.

Funny little side story, my best friends had a baby girl on May 4th this year. Which also happens to be the 30th anniversary year of SW (which I'm sure you knew). They were subjected to a flurry of "May the Fourth be with you", she's destined to be a Star Wars fan for sure.

That's so totally awesome...
on a further aside, a couple of my SW friends got engaged at Celebration. He had a custom ring made which is the millenium falcon. The engagement ring is the back half with sapphires and diamonds for the engine components.
ANyway, their wedding day is either going to be May 4th, or May 25th...for obvious reasons.
pps, he proposed at at 11:38.

Well, Eliza is the strongest female character I've ever come across in a book and I think it would be nice for her to have a strong namesake. She can be or do whatever she wants, just as Eliza did.

I thought you were referring to Eliza, one of the first "artificial intelligence" programs that could listen to you type and phrase responses like a therapist. It's still around:

Very cool... I will rest easy if my daughter Sara proves herself half as capable of handling her life as Eliza.
Another intriguing female figure- in her own way- is Constance Greene (from the works of Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child). If you like Stephenson, I'm pretty sure you would enjoy nearly anything by this duo. I've read them all- in fact, "The Book of the Dead" (which is the last of the novels centered around Agent Pendergast) is one of the few books I had to buy in hardcover (couldn't wait for the paperback version).
Somehow, I'm guessing you might go in a different direction than "Jack" if the little one is a boy. ;)

Yeah, though twins run in the family and if we end up with twins than we might have to go with jack and eliza ;)
actually for a boy, it depends on what her sister has, since they both want the same name. so, if her sister has a girl, and we have a boy, then it would be Robert. If we both have boys than it would be Brennan. Their grandfather is Robert, and we wanted a good Scottish name, so that's why Brennan.
Fezz makes a nice Mans (Boys) name! ;)
