Another holiday weekend and we will be getting together with family and friends for some good eating and drinking. It’s a special time of the year for us as it is our anniversary. Mrs. B will be receiving a new lawn mower as my anniversary present. It’s a beauty and it took a lot of hard work on my part finding her something really special. I always try to personalize my gifts, none of this in and out with any old thing business.

I bought her a manual, push type, lawn mower. No more noisy interruptions to my afternoon ball games on TV or being awakened from a siesta when she mows the side yard when my hammock is.

I gotta tell you guys, treat the little woman real good and your efforts will be returned in spades. As an example, I learned long ago not to stock my bar with half gallon bottles of booze or mixers. Most gals do not have the physical make-up to handle heavy weight on a repetitive basis and believe me you don’t want mama to come down with a repetitive motion injury. Take good care of her especially these days when it’s getting harder and harder to find good domestic help.

Show her you care and that you have concern for her wellbeing. Like for example, last winter when Jane was washing and waxing my pickup I was passed by the window overlooking the driveway and noticed that the temperature had dropped below freezing and that it had started to drizzle. No uncaring lout here. I was out there with a set of cleats before you could say Jack Robinson.

What a good helper you are!:bbg::bbg:

A couple of years ago, my wife asked for a push reel mower. I always mow the lawn and she thought she could get some exercise helping me. I also thought it might be a good deal to use on the hill that runs along the south side of my lot. It's only six feet high, but goes from ground level to top height in a horizontal distance of three feet, so it's mighty steep. The mower wants to fall over about halfway up. So I thought this reel mower weighs 1/3 as much as my power mower, it will be much easier to push up that hill. And it is. Problem is, it takes three or more passes to completely mow the weeds, er grass, so it is just as hard. At least the power mower has a chance to kill some of the friggin' yellow jackets that live in that hill, to which I'm highly allergic.

Whenever possible, get her an electric one. That way she wont be wakin' you up to start it for her. Last time she interrupted a ball game. I have shown her dozens of times!
