New Doctor (O.D.) taking over existing private practice established for 30 years in the Cypress/NW Houston area looking for optician. Bringing in the latest Zeiss Test and pretest eqpt. Bringing in internet scheduling,CL ordering, ect..This will be hi-tech.
The pluses of this job are....hours.... 9-5:30. Sat. 2-3 hours with a day off in the week. (closed 1 hour for lunch). Working within the scope of optometry that the laws allows..path, management, meds., ect...A state of the art finish lab with the latest A.I.T. eqpt. The dispensary will be upgraded to a more modern 'boutique' look. And finally, a great doctor. She is up to date with the latest in the field. She also seems to be very easy to communicate and get along with....
The down sides of this job.... You'll be replacing me.:bbg: I have been here for many years. I have many loyal patients that I have helped for a long time. The 1st year or so you may hear and experience crying, dispair, cunvultions and panic that I'm not there. I'm sure with a little reasurance and listening to their stories of their sons achivements in little league you will win them over....
This Dr. will be taking every ins. known to optidom. (including the medi's..) You will be expected to stay until the last patient leaves (when ever that happens..)
I can't speak for pay, but I will say if you're a top dog in the optical food chain, you may not wish to apply. My personal feeling is that this Dr dosn't want someone of my pay scale (which is high:bbg: ..another grin..)
As far as me...I'm very please to say I have already been offered a very good postion with one of the finest ODM groups in the area opening a second location. Low vision is where I like to be and this is a tremendous opportunity.
I post this for two reasons..1st, I care about the patients that I've worked with, they are like family. The 2nd reason is that I want to help this new owner. She is very nice and I think any optician would enjoy the opportunity to help her expand and grow and care for some really cool patients.
