I am just curious, how many frame companies do you deal with?

Me?


One main(value), about three mainstays(no reps anymore;)), 2 or 3 asst.

I also leave about fifty "spaces" for various flavors of ice cream.

So...5 or 6.

How about you?

We deal with about five main ones. Then probably another five that fight for spaces.

Four that we have mulitple lines with, and 3 companies that we only do business with one line.. then we have a few slots for Frame/lens packages from our labs.

What are your major considerations when taking in a new frame supplier? Many thanks for insight in advance. I'm a frame manufacturer trying to wholesale direct in US market.

- I want frames that will not break under regular use for minimum two years (ideally four).

- Reps that treat you with respect

- A rep that is willing to exchange product

Those are the main three criteria for my current reps. To enter my store means that you have to displace some of them, which means that there has to be a reason for me to carry your product over theirs.

Lets see...

Two of the big guns (6 lines from one, 4 from the other)
Two mid-sized vendors (2 lines from one, 4 from the other)
One smaller company (value line)
One specialty sunglass company that also offers opthalmic eyewear
Three fashion-forward companies

So 9 vendors, 22 lines

I was toying with concept of just 4-5 high end lines a la Anne et Valentin boutique which carries Theo, Cutler&Gross, ic!berlin and their own line. Pretty cool. :cool:
