View Full Version : ABOC-AC study time
question to anyone who has taken the AC:
I'm hoping to take it in Sept. Do I have enough time ??
I'm planning on studying at the least 4 hrs. per wk.
I'm starting w/ anatomy. I've got a good text for that.
I've got the Optical Formulas book by Stoner. And I have the AC Reviewbook.

I haven't taken the ABO AC, but I think it's always a good idea to give it a try! I would think you'd have enough time from now until September, you've already passed the ABO, right?
Good luck! Flash cards are a must.
I am in PA also, Southeastern. I have not taken the test yet. I am begining the studying. I am realizing, with input from those who have taken it, that I may need about 18 years to prepare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:drop:
I've had the ABO for about 12 yrs. And yes , I've already started on flash cards. My wife is going to get sick of hearing words like lacrimal canaliculi and levator palpebrae superioris. :D

RA, this is a worthy goal. I think you have set aside enough time. When I prepared for the ABO Master exam (1998?) I forced myself to go to the library 2 evenings per week for about 1-2 hours to study various topics several months prior to taking the test.
I would invest in System for Ophthalmic Dispensing. This text is really thourough and covers so many topics. You also may want to look into some management/ business texts. The other 2 books you have are decent; particularly Optical Formulas Tutorial. Good luck to you and try not drive your wife crazy with optical terms; you may wind up with an ecchymosis.:shiner:
