If it is a reasonably designed and priced frame and you are sure it was not damaged before you sent it to the lab, the lab will credit the replacement cost when you provide a copy of the invoice. With appoligies.

Hi !
Its a customers own miu miu and I checked it before I sent it, it was perfect
I can see they have replaced the original screw and it being an awkward frame to glaze( the reason I didnt want to do it!) I can see they have slipped and taken the coating off
thanks!

Something special? You should have sent the frame to the lab manager and brought it to their attention. Good luck.
I think you are out of luck. Most labs have a "disclaimer" about not being liable for damage on patients own frame. You might be in for a heap of hassle on this one.

as has been mentioned waivers and disclaimers don't really hold legal water. That still doesn't keep us from having pts sign a form that states our office is not responsible for damage to patients own frame. You may need to bite the bullet to keep a pt happy. If your lab really likes you, you may be able to at least get a lens coupon that would cover your cost of the frame.

Did the lab tell you that they messed up?
If so then fine, because it is patients risk.
If the lab is acting like they did not do it, talk to the lab manager.

If the frame was new i'd definatly be contacting the manager of the lab.
All used frames that go to the lab go under the condition that its at the patients risk due to "wear and tear"
From what i could get from your post the frame was in good cond. but had been used. If that were the case I'd contact the lab and try to organise a replacement temple or frame front at their cost, also mentioning that you sent it to them due to the difficulty you forsaw hence utilising their experience and skill to avoid damage.
if all fails then foot the bill for a replacement part and express your unpleasant experience with your rep. Hopfully a means of renumeration may come about.
We always take digital photo(s) with date/time stamps of the pof before send out to lab. photo(s) are deleted a month later

Hi! All
Thanks for the replies
The lab didnt say anything they just sent it back, also forgot to mention there is gap where i can stick a piece of paper thru!
Phoned up to speak to the rep she gone! they wouldnt say why
It upsets me when this sort of thing happens and it reminds me why I like to do my own glazing but the machine Ive got at the moment isnt the greatest
Only consolation is she is a very nice lady and Im sure will understand these things happen
Thanks!

Have you ever had a reason to use the photos and if so wouldnt it put a strain on your relationship with your lab?

not so far (knock on the wood)
don't think so. it is for my liability. not for blaming others. (only to use the photo in extreme cases)
