Greetings,
I have been endlessly searching for the sunglasses used in the motion picture "The Matrix" worn by Lawrence Fishburn, alias Morpheus.
They are oval lenses, with no frames and no arms. They have a sort of clip on.
I'm from Brazil and there aren't any sunglasses similar to these around here, so I looked all over the internet and I actually these glasses. A company called 3DNY sells them, but it seems they have no correspondent in America.
What I'd really apreciate is any kind of information on these glasses or similar ones (no frames and no arms). I'd really apreciate it.
Thanks in advance,
Alika Finotti

I just thought I'd give it another try. Doesn't anyone have any information on these glasses?
Thanks again.

Hello,
The glasses in question are antique hardware known as a "Pince Nez" (the original style and are no longer made). All of the sunglasses for the movie were custom made and that is what you will have to do if you want some for yourself or a patient. You can find this hardware at antiques stores from time to time and use a chemical called "Cold Blue" to darken the metal. If you can find the hardware get polycarbonate plano silver mirrored sunglass blanks, cut them to an oval shape and drill mount them.
I have made a pair for a gentleman, but I'm not sure where he found the hardware. I'm in the process of making a pair for a friend of mine like those worn by Keanu Reeves.
I hope this helps,
Darris C.

Darris,
Where can one acquire "Cold Blue," and could it be applied to a gun barrel to "reblue" it?

Hello Pete,
Yes, cold blue is for bluing gun barrels and can be purchased at most reputable sporting goods stores. It can be applied with a Q-Tip to touch up spots on a barrel or can be used to re-blue an entire barrel. I use it for the barrels on my black powder derringers.
See ya in NAWLINS :-)
